The Irish Mirror reports that Dubliner Simon will appear for the first time next month. But it's not yet known whether he has signed up for a short or long-term role.
A source told the Sunday World: "Simon plays an Irish character and has already filmed his opening scenes."
Simon Delaney starred in the 2001-2003 RTE series Bachelors Walk. Since then he has appeared alongside Sean Penn in This Must Be the Place, Vince Vaughn in Delivery Man and Keira Knightley in Begin Again. He's also appeared in a host of top TV shows including The Fall, Moone Boy and The Good Wife.

Simon is following in the footsteps of Ireland's Keith Duffy (Ciaran McCarthy) and Charles Lawson (Jim McDonald) who have also appeared in Corrie.
You can see more of Corrie's Irish links here.
Last year Keith Duffy said that Corrie was "definitely something he'd love to do again". You can read more on that here.

Looking forward to Simon Delaney's appearance. Would really love to see Keith Duffy back again. What I would really really like is to get rid of Phelan whose story line has gone on far too long! He must be found outk!!!
I long for the return of Keith Duffy. Kieran was such a refreshing character.
Can someone help me fill in the gaps? I remember Kieran as Peter's friend who turns up in Weatherfield and helps drive a wedge between Peter and Shelly. I never liked him at the time. After that, I stopped watching for several years, so I must have missed how his character was developed beyond Peter's bigamy storyline.
He was engaged to Sunita for a while, but they didn't get married. I think he became quite a good friend to Shelley over time. And I think he just moved on when he left. Apart from that, I can't remember much else!
Last time we saw Cieran, he and Michelle had been all set to get married. They.called off the wedding because she changed her mind about returning to the cruise ship where they'd both been working. He left without her. They were great together, although his character was most interesting when he was a cheeky ladies man working behind the Rovers bar.
I forgot about Kieren and Michelle! But yes I would love to see him back as well.
Would rather see Kieran back than some random new character.
Agree that bringing Kieran back would be great. He's still got some ties to the street, it could work and it would be great to see him behind the bar again.
