Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 25 September 2026

Welcome.  We open at Chariot Square Happy Hour where Izzy, Sean, Michael and Carla are enjoying a few drinks.  Glenda comes in looking for Debbie who is missing again.  Carla, Izzy and Michael leave and Sean queries Glenda about being ill.  She explains she is sick of Eva.  Eva meanwhile is lying at the foot of the cellar stairs where she was despatched by Sam.  Sam goes upstairs and eventually finds his phone (and why is he phone addicted?) and then in one of those absolutely stupid twists, does not phone anyone and does a runner.  He returns to the scene of his earlier crime where Nick and Toyah are completely understanding about him trashing the Bistro office.  However the viewers can now spend the entire episode worrying about Eva who had it easy - no acting - just sleeping on the cellar floor.  Every so often we get a shot of the prone Eva taking another breath.

I suspect I am unsympathetic b****** (with due apologies for the language) but I am having trouble believing in Christina's grief.  Not a hint of a hidden daughter for what 35 years? and now hardly able to function.  A shock maybe - but all consuming?  Anyway Christina is contemplating life, the universe and the answer to life (42) in Victoria Gardens when she is found by Bernie.  Bernie is far more sympathetic - but then she has lost one child, her lost, now found child, is seriously ill and so perhaps she understands.

Tim and Sally have completely lost Lucy, thinking she is minding Shanice upstairs, whom Ronnie finds considerably the worse for wear in Victoria Gardens.  Lucy claims not to be a kid and being really bored.  Tim discovers she half inched the vodka from the kitchen cupboard.  Sally sends Lucy to bed with a bowl in case of nasty accidents.  Tim is not surprised that Lucy is acting up.  They do not know what to do for the best.

Debbie has been sent to the closed Rovers by Sam looking for Carl (her phone has died yet again) and she wanders around (although closed the front door is unlocked).  She sees Eva and leaves the Rovers but by the time she meets Carla, Izzy, Michael and Sean (continuity error as Sean did not leave with the others) outside Audreys she cannot remember visiting the cellar and as she is distressed Carla takes Debbie back to her flat above the cab office.  Debbie looks as though she does not recognise it and later asks Carl if Carla is his girlfriend as she had not recognised her.  Ronnie and Carl argue over the latter's flakiness - Ronnie wants him out.

Eventually Glenda returns to the Rovers and finds signs of an intruder from Sam's earlier frantic searching, Glenda hears groaning from the cellar and then summons the emergency services.  It may well be important that she seems to have bashed her abdomen.  Her blood pressure is low and she manages one word "Pushed".

This episode was "odd" as it was clearly set on the same day as Thursday and I wonder if the plan was originally to show them together for some reason.  Once again the chapeau must be tipped to the wonderful Sue Devaney who is seen in one shot almost shuffling along as a "little old lady" rather than the dynamic business woman.  Once again another slip down the ladder mentally and I suspect she will be accused of Eva's incident.  However it would be nice for some light and shade - do all the stories need to depress us?  Is no-one on the Street doing anything positive and uplifting?  For those worried about him, Theo Silverton has returned to Ambridge, ended his marriage to Fallon, taken up (within days) with the posh and apparently very attractive daughter of the lady of the manor who finds him equally attractive (thanks to a Tango lesson) and has nicked (he is a policeman) a Doberman for savaging sheep.

I may or may not be here next week - it will depend on events as on the Saturday I am catching a plane to India and will not be around for three weeks.  I hope to be back for the 26 October episode all being well.

Conversation Street Podcast Episode #751

This episode of the podcast covers the week of the 21st to the 25th September (Episodes #11,946 - #11,950).

What a refreshingly watchable week of Corrie this turned out to be, packed with characters we actually care about and even some pleasantly low-stakes drama in parts too. Debbie, Christina, Glenda, Sam, Bernie, the Driscolls... these were the headliners this week, and even the utterly ridiculous revelation that Christina is actually Lucy's grandmother couldn't ruin it. Eva's OTT cold and Glenda skivvying around after her was hilarious, Bernie's reaction to Kit's news was heartbreaking, and despite us being far from the world's biggest Carl fan, that scene with him and Steve in the cab office really was quite endearing. Now if only they'd pick up the pace a bit with the Metcalfe story - and have Sally push back more against Tim too!

The positive vibes continue into The Kabin, where we celebrate Corrie's big wins at the Inside Soap Awards this week, and we round the episode off as always with more of your listener feedback.

For a number of years now, we’ve talked about the so-called Alahan Renaissance that blossomed onto our screens in the late 2010s, when Aadi and Asha got old enough to have storylines of their own and Dev seized the opportunity to go full-on embarrassing dad mode. But with both twins now having flown the nest, where does that leave our favourite corner shop owner? Fortunately, as we discuss in our latest Resident Review, Dev seems to be in just as strong a position as ever - largely thanks to the latest woman in his life, the incomparable Bernie. What is it about this seemingly mismatched couple that makes them work so well on screen? What have been the hits and misses of their more recent storylines? And where would we like to see them - along with their newly acquired houseguest Brody - go next? It's time to discuss!

Preview of today's Coronation Street - Friday 25 September 2026

Friday 25th September 2026

DEBBIE’S IN A DAZE AS EVA’S LIFE HANGS IN THE BALANCE As Nick and Toyah search for Sam, a disorientated Debbie approaches asking if he’s seen Carl. Sam directs her to the Rovers, As Debbie surveys the empty pub, she’s horrified to see Eva lying at the bottom of the cellar steps unconscious. She hurries out to get help but becomes confused and it’s not until Glenda finds Eva that an ambulance is called. As Ronnie tells Debbie there’s an ambulance outside the pub, she suddenly remembers in horror that she saw Eva. As the paramedics lift Eva, will she be ok? And did she fall or was she pushed?

LUCY GOES AWOL Sally and Tim are pleased to think that Lucy is spending time with Shanice. But when Ronnie leads a tipsy Lucy back to No.4, Sally and Tim are unimpressed.
