We've known for some time that Pat Phelan's daughter was joining Coronation Street. And in one of those strange soap coincidences, Phelan's daughter will also turn out to be the mum of Faye's boyfriend, Seb. That means Seb is Phelan's grandson.
I'm liking the way this is going.
The Mirror report today that Phelan's daughter Nicola is the result of a one-night stand he had with his mate's wife. Not only that, but this will be the first time he's ever met her.
The Mirror have got the pictures here.

I think it's far less contrived and more of a surprise for the viewer if he knows his daughter (even if they aren't close) and knows Seb is his grandson. There's no reason that he would tell anyone Phelan being Phelan, he's a sly old fox. He's already keeping an eye out for the young boy, they could have built on the suspense.
Him not knowing and already there being a relationship is iffy ... and... does this mean that another murderer gets no comeuppance on Crimeation Street? Because TPTB like him he gets to stay no matter what he's done? ick!
Oh please, I'd rather they did away with Phelan, not give him an extended family!
Which other murderer got away with it Beth?
If you mean Tracy...she was sentenced to prison, served 3 years then got off on a technicality.
I can't think of anyone who has truly gotten away with murder.....except for Phelan so far.
I love to hate Pat Phelan...the ultimate Baddie. Didn't he once say that Seb reminded him of himself? Now we know why. Contrived? Sure, but that's the soaps for you, almost as weird as real life. I'd love for Phelan to stay only to wipe the smugness from Eileen's mug, and then Anna can do the "I told you so " dance.
I think it's very contrived for again a long lost relative to come out of the woodwork to justify storylines for a character who I believe should have been gone weeks ago.
Phelan has scammed his neighbors, has blood on his hands with Michael's and Andy's deaths and instead of getting his comeuppance as most villains do,he gets to stay and with a family?!
Coronation Street has truly entered the 'Twilight Zone'!
Ugh, giving Phelan roots on the street means he'll be around for some time, when I was hoping he'd get his comeuppance for murdering Andy...and torturing Michael in his death throes.
Don't give him a family, give him his marching orders!
Phelan is the new 'Tracy'. One dimensional baddie whom some people love to hate and others (me!)are bored stiff with. Can't even be bothered to hate him. Giving him a family may be the writers way of fleshing out his character but it's too late. Let him start a new life elsewhere with his new family.
I don't want to know more about Phelan, I just want him gone. The actor being talented doesn't mean the character adds anything to the show.
I hope Andy's not really dead and the character makes a brief appearance to get rid of Phelan just as he's getting comfortable.
