Cathy and Brian - Yay or Nay?

Last night on Coronation Street there was a moment, just a flicker of a moment between Cathy and Brian. Or am I imaginging things?

After Roy had taken down the For Sale board from Roy's Rolls and Brian caught Cathy on the street, that's when it happened.

"You must care about him very much," Brian said to Cathy and she agreed that she did.

While Roy and Cathy will probably remain friends, I can't see a way back for them romantically. But could there be something between Cathy and Brian, I wonder, in the future?

What would you say to Brian and Cathy getting together - Yay or Nay? I say Yay.

I vote for the third option: Go Away. Cathy, that is.I'm more interested to see Brian playing the ladies man before he settles down. There's a lot of fun in his character and I'd love to see him chasing Liz, Yasmeen and Erica (even though she's spoken for).

Yes I would like to see them as a couple. I didn't particularly like Julie but Brian & Cathy would be more suited than Roy & Cathy. There again, characters don't always have to be ronantically linked for them to work. Mary & Norris, Norris & Emily/Rita.

I say nay because I liked Julie and would like her to come back & Brian & her reunite.

I also vote for the option of Cathy going away.
A few weeks ago she was set to marry Roy and now she may have feeligs for Brian?
Sounds like a rebound romance with Cathy becoming a man eater like her sister.
I also have a feeling that both Cathy and Alex will take advantage of Brian as they did with Roy.

I presume Brian is suppose to bring some humour to the street. Cringe!

I wouldn't like it at all. I am in the minority here, but I liked Cathy with Roy and hope for a reconciliation.

Nay. Brian is too selfish.

Totally agree. I've defended Cathy in the past on this site, and been shot down for it. I don't think she was all bad for Roy and Roy isn't as perfect as people are making out. Everyone has there faults

I don't like him either

I am not one who idolizes Roy, sooo eccentric. I thought that Cathy would be a good match for Roy, someone who could bring in touch of reality.
Now that Roy and her have separated, would I see her with Brian - not really. Too soon. Plus Brian is a cad. I do like Cathy but I would see her stay single and have female friends for a while before matching her with a man.

I dislike Brian's character strongly and loved Roy & Cathy together. Brian needs to go now he's just not working for me.

No, I'd rather see where things go with Brian on his own for a while and have him develop friendships. What made him annoying in the past was him merely existing as a foil for Julie and being with Cathy would be more of that again. The presence of Alex would even make it a repeat of the does he/doesn't he want children around storyline.
Johnny's available isn't he? Cathy would be a vast improvement on Jenny and he and Cathy seem to be ready for romance but to not have found the right partner yet.

No way. I liked Roy and Cathy. Brian needs to go. Don't know why they brought him back.I found Roy and Cathy a great match and hope Roy will win her back.

I agree with everything you said. Loved Roy and Cathy together. I can't stand Brian. Why did they bring him back?

If we must have Cathy sticking around, then a slow romance with Brian would be tolerable. They are better suited to each other than Roy and Cathy. As for Johnny and Cathy -- even though I don't like Jenny-Johnny, I can't see Cahty and Johnny together. She's too old. I can see Erica and Johnny, however.

As fans of both Brian and Cathy, we wouldn't be adverse Corrie putting them together. Not sure Brian's quite Cathy's type, but you never know, he may be able to win her round with some (newly created by the powers at be at Corrie) shared interest or something.

Better that than have Cathy leave, which we fear may end up happening if a rekindling of the romance with Roy isn't on the cards.

I would think Cathy and Johnny are the same age or that Cathy may even be younger. Cathy could have been Alex's mother which would put her in her late 40s or 50s and most of Johnny's kids are about Alex's age.
However, Johnny is also Carla's father so he has to be at least in his late 50s, though he's more likely in his 60s.

I'm sure Roy will come to his senses and get Cathy back. There is no need for Brian.

Oh Cathy, just go away!! And take the detestable Nessa and Alex with you!! I hold no torch for Hayley, I just dislike this character and her entourage so much I don't want to see their faces again.

Can someone please tell me why Cathy and her son aren't working at Roy's Rolls any longer? Sure, Cathy didn't marry Roy, but surely her failure in marrying him didn't mean that she lost her job as well? She obviously needs work to support herself, why isn't she still working there?

Not so sure Cathy needs a job. I don't think she was working when she and Roy met or she wouldn't have so easily moved into his flat. Now that she's also collecting rent from the tenants of her house, she must need a job even less.
Same goes for Alex, was a job he had before ever brought up?
Roy was managing fine with just him or Anna working there: it's a small café. I think Cathy and Alex just started to work there since they were always around after moving in upstairs.

I say yes, get them together and then have them move away with the rest of her family. I don't like any of those characters, Roy or not.

No....I would like to see Cathy back with Roy at some point and for Julie to return to Brian....they were a great couple!

Why do Cathy and Roy or Cathy and Brian have to get together any time soon? It took Derek and Mavis years to get together and their on-off relationship supplied endless twists and turns, and much comedy, especially when Victor was part of the triangle. Corrie rushes towards resolutions then these days when the journey is often the more interesting part of the story. Len and Rita, then Bet and Alec also had slow-burn relationships I seem to remember.

I like Nessa, who is gloriously awful, but Alex, as well-intentioned and noble as his casting may have been, simply can't act and spends half his time glancing at the camera.

What? Brian and Rosie surely, you know it makes sense :)

I would have paired Mary with Brian. They seem more suited to each other than him with Cathy.

I would be glad to see the back of Cathy. She has absolutely no warmth in her acting and I don't think she cares enough about anybody but herself. Time for both her and Alex to leave. Brian is an odd duck, but amusing for short snippets of conversation with Roy and Ken. So leave everybody single and much more interesting than pairing them off, only to have them break up when storylines are slow.

I get the opposite feeling. Melanie Hill isa great actress in my view and I love Roy and Cathy. I don't wanr to see them with anyone else. I hope a reunion is on the cards. I think splitting them up is a big mistake unless it is only temporary.

Brian and 'grim reaрer'Gail - she's looking for husband number ten zagillion to bumр off this mortal coil :)

A friend once described a mutual acquaintance as a nice person who wasn't actually nice, and I think Cathy falls under that description. She's friendly enough but the bottom line is that she only cares about herself and expects everyone close to her to put her first regardless of the inconvenience or consequences to themselves.

Age-wise, they are a great match. Personality-wise, it's a bit like Ken and Deirdre - the intellectual and the not-so-much, ha ha!

Personality-wise, Mary is more suited to Brian, although he is significantly older. But there isn't anyone in their 40s on the show suited to Mary. Peter and Mary? ha ha

You've hit the nail on the head. I really wanted to like this character but she's very self absorbed.
I do think it was made more obvious by being with Roy, who is stubborn but not good at confrontation.
With a man who establishes boundaries more clearly and asks for what he wants, Cathy would be more appealing because she wouldn't seem to be riding roughshod over him.

I totally agree. I don't like the pairing of Cathy and Brian, but I really loved Roy and Cathy together. The way they did their romance as a slow burn and the way it gradually built was excellent to watch. I felt that Roy's feelings of doubt and grief over Hayley were made part of the storyline, thus, I think it held its respect towards the fans who were strong fans of Roy and Hayley. My suggestion would be that Roy and Cathy reconcile at some point in the future. I can't see that happening as the producers have gone in other directions with them, but I would actually prefer it if their characters were together. David Neilsen and Melanie Hill acted as a couple wonderfully my view.
