First-look pics: Michelle struggles to contain her grief

Here are some preview pictures from the episode of Coronation Street to be shown on Monday 23 January 2017.

As Michelle and Steve struggle to come to terms with the loss of their baby son Ruairi viewers will see the trauma further taking its toll on their marriage.

Over lunch at the bistro Michelle hits the bottle hard. Michelle doesn’t take well to Steve’s request for her to slow down and as her grief spirals out of control she begins a public meltdown which sees Michelle storm out of the bistro and into the night on her own.

Dealing with his own grief, and the guilt of knowing that Leanne is carrying his unborn child, Steve’s at his wits end.

Can the couple come together and find a way through their pain or will Michelle look elsewhere for comfort?

I'm disappointed that such a serious and tragic storyline is being reduced to yet more Michelle shouting scenes.
I also think it's contrived that in all the places to have her meltdown it would be in the bistro within earshot of Robert who has declared his love for Michelle and whom she'll probably turn to because Steve who's also grieving doesn't understand what SHE's going through.

I agree that for this to happen in the Bistro is contrived, but I see the turn to drink/marriage problems as quite normal reactions.

How do you know how you would react in that situation until it happens to you? Don't think I'd be sitting quietly like a wall flower if it was happening to me. I thought Kym did the scenes so much credit, but there are always nay sayers ready to criticise

Anonymous18;31]I don't mean to trivialise the storyline as I've mentioned in my earlier post it is a serious subject matter but what I don't like is a tragedy to be used for Michelle to be nasty to Steve who is also grieving the loss of his son and the possibility of her feeling justified to turn to Robert.
Unfortunately this storyline is also a case of deja vu as Liam Connor turned to Carla for 'comfort' after his and Maria's son died in stillbirth with Michelle's approval no less!

Wow, I am dreading the on-going nature of this story line. It has well and truly put many people's hackles up. I can't stand Michelle. Anything that gives her more screen time is a bad situation for me. She is a miserable harridan on a regular day, so she's earned zero sympathy from me now that she's in full melt down mode.
