It looks like new character Shona is set to be around for a while on Coronation Steret. Why else would Corrie put her with Roy and give her a job in the cafe, I wonder, if she's not here for the duration?. And she's been given a surname too - she's Shona Ramsey - another indicator that she's not just a fly-by-night who'll be off in a month.
Shona is played by actor Julia Goulding who attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Julia has appeared in numerous theatre roles including The Crucible, The Canterbury Tales, Othello, Merchant Of Venice and The Notorious Mrs Ebbsmith. She also appeared in the film King To Castle.
In addition, Julia is a classical Soprano. A talented lady indeed.

Needed another Becky.
I am sure she is a good actress, but did we really need another character on the street? They don't know what to do with the ones they've got.
I sometimes think that TPTB just keep adding characters in hopes that the viewers will find something or somebody that they like.
The trouble with that is that the characters we already like are leaving or languishing while they add people we're not particularly interested in so while there's a lot of coming and going it doesn't amount to much.
From what Ive seen so far Im not impressed with her acting... but still nowhere near as bad as Roberts wife.
I think the actress is doing a good job with what she has been given to work with as Shona. I am curious to see more and hope she will survive the slimey bait guy story line. I find it amusing now thinking back on Shona's conversation with Roy about classical music, given that the actress is a classical Sopraono. Would be fun if she suddenly started to sing with a voice from the angels :).
That would be great :).
she's too classically good-looking/cultured for Corrie. Not to say that the actresses who played Becky and Kylie weren't very good-looking as well, but they inhabited their chav roles and their features could fit this persona. Shona looks so out of place at the cafe--with her sweet, indulgent smiles at Roy's babbling and her sculpted cheekbones sharp enough to slice toast. Like Maddie, she lacks the edge of a Kylie or Becky and comes across as too gentle. In my opinion, anyways. If she gets pulled into the Nathan/Bethany storyline (since it seems she was one of Nathan's intended sex ring victims and should have an idea very soon about what he intends for Bethany), maybe she'll ramp it up a bit and we'll see a bit more steel. jeanie
I think you have a very good comment there. She's a classically trained singer, and been to RADA. She's appeared in many Shakespeare plays in some high end theatres. Some actors like that can get away with it (see "Shameless" for some good examples, but Julia hasn't quite enough of the chav about her. Still, I enjoy her performances anyway, and she's still finding her feet.
