ITV have confirmed that Corrie favourite Eva Price is returning to the cobbles this autumn as the landlady of The Rovers Return, and she won’t be alone!
Catherine Tyldesley is back filming top secret scenes in Weatherfield and she has been joined by two exciting new additions to the cast.
Acclaimed actors Aaron McCusker and Pauline McLynn will be arriving alongside Catherine as Eva’s partner Ben Driscoll and his interfering mother Maggie.
Eva and Ben will be revealed to residents as the new owners of The Rovers Return in October - putting Eva back behind the bar of the nation’s favourite pub for the first time since 2018.
Eva will be reunited with her sisters Leanne and Toyah, as well as catching up with her old friends and neighbours. But what has she been up to since she left Weatherfield and how will this new clan fit into the drama on the Street?
Also joining the cast will be Ben’s two sons and Eva’s daughter Suzie and it is safe to say the Price/Driscoll family will be arriving with a bang and a suitcase full of secrets.
Corrie fans will recognise Pauline as Mrs Doyle in Father Ted and Libby Croker in Shameless. She also appeared in Eastenders as Yvonne Cotton in 2014.
Aaron is best known for playing Jamie McGuire in Shameless, he also starred as Jim Hutton, Freddie Mercury's boyfriend, in the 2018 feature film Bohemian Rhapsody.
Catherine left Coronation Street in 2018 after seven years on the cobbles. Since waving farewell to Weatherfield she has appeared in dramas such as Viewpoint, Suspicion, Scarborough and most recently The Good Ship Murder.
Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said: “We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore. To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline's considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can't wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. Strap yourselves in, it's going to be an exciting and eventful ride.”

Toyah is no relation to Eva. Leanne is her half-sister, so Toyah could possibly be considered to be Eva's stepsister. Aidan Connor was Suzie's father, so Carla as Aidan's half-sister is Suzie's half-auntie? Ryan is no relation of course, because he was swapped at birth and isn't Michelle Connor's biological son.
What fun is in store? I don't think! Ben's children will doubtless be troublesome teens and form inappropriate relationships with cobbles youngsters. Pauline McGlynn will probably be a battleaxe. Seen it all before.
Do we really need more new characters ? A husband, 3 children and a mom?
No, no, no. Why are they getting rid of old charcters and then bringing newrubbish in? Thought they were skint? Do they really think this is going to attract viewers?
I think we do, as so many have left and the ones who haven't been killed off haven't announced if they are returning yet.
I wonder just how many more ex Shameless cast Corrie will recruit. How long before David Threlfall arrives shouting "Scatter!"
I've never seen shameless or father ted, so I won't be able to compare these actor's previous performances. I did see George as ken in benidorm though!
Wasn't there some gubbins about Eva not being sure whether Aiden or Adam was Susie's father? I predict they'll retcon that one to make Adam the daddy.
Hahaha.....that cracked me up!!
Pauline McGlynn was brilliant as Mrs McGuire in Father Ted. Treat yourself and have a look at sometime, I think you'll love it. Unfortunately, if the writers give her dross, she can only do so much with it. Some Jonathon Harvey writing for her, PLEEEASE.
