Pregnancy storyline shock for Sinead

As always with these spoilers from the tabloids, take things with a large pinch of salt.

The Sun this week posted a story that said Sinead is going to fall pregnant in Coronation Street - and the baby won't be Chesney's.

Not content with just handing over a Venus Fly Trap, Daniel looks set to be one who puts Sinead in the pudding club.

Well, he is his father's son.

Mr Curry Sauce tells The Sun: “Coronation Street has already had its fair share of baby drama this year. But the cobbles will once again be rocked by a pregnancy bombshell as Sinead discovers she’s pregnant with her new boyfriend Daniel’s baby – shortly after they start dating. Sinead tries to keep it a secret at first but Daniel soon stumbles across her pregnancy test. At first he thinks it might be her ex-boyfriend Chesney’s, but she assures him the baby is his.”

"she assures him [Daniel] the baby is his." Just confirms that her relationship with Chesney has been about the dullest on the planet. Seriously, though, I'd think a Maria pregnancy story line would be more useful in terms of story potential, since she slept with both Adam and Aidan within 24 hours. Don't know where they'd take the Sinead one.

I agree!!! Maria being pregnant would be good. Although Sinead deserves happiness as Chesney was not stepping up to the plate.

Oh please let this be a Sun fantasy! I'm so sick of these "shock pregnancies". Has nobody heard of contraception, does anyone practise safe sex?

Guess I'm in the minority - I really liked Chesney and Sinead together.

Coronation Street played this down today when I was there. Could be another fictitious story from the Sun, but CS were a bit vague about it

Stop, stop, STOP! Does Corrie have the most fertile women and the most virile men on the planet? Times ten? For goodness sake, haven't we had enough of pregnancies which appear after one or 2 sessions between the sheets? Couldn't there be at least some resemblance to the real world, where this does happen, but only very occasionally? I suppose it would be followed by a "dramatic birth", rather than an ordinary, uneventful one in the hospital. Enough, already.

I thought there was going to be some original storylines what with a new producer and all. I guess she'll go through the whole 'should I have an abortion or keep it' scenario ... done to death...IMO

I liked Chesney and Sinead together too. They seemed to be one of the few "nice" couples on the street. I guess eventually everyone's attitudes and morals get dragged down to the lowest common denominator.

Sinead and Chesney are dull, dull, dull! And I don't think this pĆ²ssible story will make them more interesting. It is obvious that ChesneĆ½ should be with Gemma, they have a nice rapport. As for Sinead.....possibly Adam?

Oh no, Sinead was always a promising character but is now dragged down by boring Chesney (he's changed too). But please don't put her with horrible Adam. I agree that Chesney and Gemma are better suited.

Chesney and Sinead are both very nice, decent people, without question. But together they are as dull as ditchwater. Chesney seems to have almost no interest in Sinead, puts everyone else first. When a guy lets a girl as good-looking, restless, and fun-loving as Sinead go out clubbing alone, so that he can watch a kebaab shop, he can't show much more indifference. He was much more passionate about Schmeicel and Katie. Meanwhile Sinead is bizarrely fixated on the idea that she is not good enough for this very ordinary redhead and seems to be with Chesney more out of self-hate than love. No joy for either of them. Maybe Daniel can jazz up Sinead's life a little, make her realize what a beautiful, spontaneous girl she is. And Gemma can give Chesney a good kick up his backside before he morphs into a ginger Norris.

I haven't been watching lately but if Daniel isn't Daniel gay? He the new blonde on the show, Ken's son or grandson, right? I only saw a few scenes with him and he was like living in a crappy apartment or something. I totally thought he was gay which doesn't mean he can't knock Sinead up but I thought he was meant to hook up with Sean.

Pregnancies are the most boring plots in soap. They drag on and on then when the baby arrives it is hardly seen again for a decade until they cast a child who can act. Then there's the constant question of who is looking after them - Liam Connor seems to bring himself up. Boring!

That's pretty offensive, assuming someone is gay because they're sensitive & bookish (altjough I happen to be sensitive and bookish AND gay - but even so!) Daniel has specifically stated that he's not gay.

Everyone is saying that Chesney and Sinead together are 'dull dull dull', but I don't see any sparks flying from Daniel either.
He's quiet, bookish, I don't see him being able to really rock Sinead's world any better than Chesney.

It's probably a plot for Corrie St to leave Chesney with absolutely nothing to do so maybe he will exit the show and they won't come across as being the bad guys who forced him out.
I don't know why everybody assumes Daniel is gay. At least he is a much better actor by far than Adam, who is too busy posing for the camera all the time. Daniel and Sinead just may work together. Stranger things have happened.

Why would it be offensive to assume someone was gay? Really? I thought he was too. Wasn't one of Ken's grandson's gay? I was sure there was a storyline that ended with Ken being hit in the head and his grandson legging it. Must have dreamed that one I guess.

Why would anyone assume Daniel's gay? Just because he enjoys reading...! They're casting him as a bit bashful though, which, given the hyper-sexuality of some of the people on the street, is kind of sweet. In terms of his sexuality he seems straightforward enough--there are a lot of shy young men out there who want a quick shag as much as anyone but don't have the slick line of patter. You see them hovering on the outskirts of parties, wondering what to say--when they're a bit older, they tend to become more confident, but when they're in their teens and early twenties they're rather bashful and awkward. admiration for Peter!

I seem to remember a rumor about Daniel being gay in the lead up to his arrival, one of the reasons I hate spoilers. As far as sensitive and bookish go, Ken and Roy, both straight, are. Todd, gay, isn't.

Feel bad for Sam Aston. He's talented and could handle more than the wet blankets they've wrapped Chesney in. Sinead and Daniel could be a good case for opposites attract; if he rekindles her creativity and she's a muse for his graduate school musings, it just might work. They're both just a little weird enough.

Annon 14.30- you're thinking of James Cunningham, Lawrence's son, who's mother was Wendy, Kens first girlfriend.

Oops! Susan not Wendy.

Storylines are becoming predictable, drawn out and boring. Please put the fun back into Corrie. I've been a fan for over fifty years but am rapidly becoming disheartened by recent events. I applaud the show for tackling sensitive storylines, but the Phelan story has long since run its course.

I like Sinead well enough but I doubt this will be the making of her, ditching Alya and the Connors to set up business on her own would be more like it than getting pregnant by some guy.
I know many people like Gemma but honestly, I think she's too common and crass for anyone on the street.Maybe after Rita has more time to polish her up.
Yes, Chesney can be dull but he's a nice young man and deserves a nice young girl. I used to like him with Sinead and can't tell whether their relationship has run its course or not since I hardly ever see them together.I don't know why the producer and writers are more interested in developing stories for new actors when they have plenty on hand that they've been neglecting.

Anonymous said...

Not trying to be offensive but some gay actors can play straight but some cannot and this guy can't. I've only seen a few scenes with Daniel and thought he was gay and that was before knowing that the actor is also gay. If this character doesn't have a coming out story than they need to recast.

Yes, Ches and Sinead are dull - but this is only true because the producers have chosen to write him as such. They could have written them as a funny couple. Why do they always make Ches so boring? I can only assume they thought it would be funnier to pair him up with Gemma, which I can't disagree with, so they've dulled him down even further.
