Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker in Coronation Street, reveals that Sinead will be facing heartbreak
next week in Coronation Street.
Inside Soap magazine say that Sinead suffers a miscarriage next week and there's going to be some emotional scenes. And as if all of that drama wasn't enough for poor Sinead, Katie says she's also called to have a word with the head of the Barlow clan, King Ken, himself.
"Ken actually tells Sinead that is to Daniel what Deirdre was to him," says Katie. "They were such an iconic couple, so I think it's cool! I love the comparison becuse they're absolute legends. But I still see Sinead and Daniel just as themselves - so even though I think they can be compared to Deirdre and Ken, I like to think they're a modern, different version of them, too."
Katie says she was really nervous filming her first scenes with William Roache, who plays Ken. "It was nice being on the Barlow set, but the pressure was on," she says. "The scenes were really intense and I loved working with Bill and getting to know him. He's the man, isn't he? I hope we get to film some more together."

What is it with the scriptwriters, can't they have anyone( except Leanne) actually having a healthy full term child lately?
I don't like the idea of Ken rubbishing Deirdre to Sinead. Yes, he stayed in Weatherifeld for her but he also loved her dearly and I genuinely don't he would make such mean comments about her. It seems extremely out of character.
Surely the scene will be written in a way that will be less shocking! I hope. Otherwise how could the actress be pleased with being compared to Ken and Deirdre....from the sound of it Ken considered Deirdre a millstone around his neck. Good heavens...I think it was just as hard if not harder for Deirdre. Look at what she had to live with...yawn.....
I just commented on another post that Ken seems to have had some neurological damage from his stroke. He can't stop putting his two cents in.
What does he know about Sinead, or even Daniel for that matter, that he could compare them to himself and Deirdre for good or ill?
That's true. I always got the impression that, all things considered, it's Deirdre who could have done better, not Ken.
It is quite common for first pregnancies to end in the first 12 weeks, so I am not surprised by Sinead's miscarriage.
I'm kinda relieved to hear it. They have the potential to make an interesting couple but they're nowhere near ready to make a lifetime commitment. Just hope Daniel hasn't thrown away his MA in the meantime.
I think her miscarriage will be a lie so Daniel doesnt miss his shot at Oxford, after the dressing down she received. But it will come out that she lied because of Ken and Daniel will flip put. At least I hope so. I actually like Daniel and dont want him to leave.
Wasn't she seen filming at an abortion clinic recently? I wonder if there's a twist, or perhaps she just goes in for advice following her miscarriage.
To be honest, although they were together on and off for a good many years, I never really thought Ken and Deirdre were well suited as a couple as they were both so different. I think It would have been better if Deirdre had either married Billy Walker, as was planned at one stage before actor Ken Farrington declined to renew his contract, or else stayed married to Ray Langton. It should be remembered that Deirdre and Ray were quite a strong and popular couple in the 1970s before actor Neville Buswell who played Ray decided to quit acting and move to the United States, which meant he had to be written out by having an affair with cafe worker Janice and leaving Weatherfield on his own to work in Holland after Deirdre declined to accompany him at the last minute. I often wonder what sort of storylines Deirdre would have had if she and Ray had reconciled and stayed together. In particular, I wonder if she would still have had the affair with Mike Baldwin. I suspect not, as Ray was a totally different sort of man to Ken and Deirdre would probably never have found their relationship boring as she did with Ken which caused her to seek solace with Mike. Possibly Deirdre and Ray would also have had another child and Tracy might have grown up to be quite a different person if her biological father was around for her.
If I remember correctly, Ken had a fair bit in common with Janet Reid to whom he was briefly married in the mid 1970s as they were both intellectual types, but Janet was written out by committing suicide as their marriage was apparently unpopular with viewers. Ken did not have much in common with his first wife Valerie but they managed to stay together for nine years and have two children before Val's tragic death in 1971 as actress Anne Reid wished to leave. I wonder if Ken and Val would have stated together if Anne Reid had stayed in the show?
