Sally Lindsay confirms no Coronation Street return
Sally Lindsay, who played Shelley Unwin in Coronation Street, was interviewed on ITV's Good Morning this week.
Sally was on the show to promote her role in the new series of Mount Pleasant, and of course she was asked whether she was returning to Corrie in the future.
Her reply was this: "I'd love to (go back in) but I'm afraid this year - no time. I love Corrie, it's great. It's like I'm putting it down but I'm not it's moved on. It's a juggernaut that moves on and it was wonderful being there and I've got lifelong friends from that but that was the past."
Earlier in the interview, she was asked: "You’ve done so many things, but it’s Coronation Street everyone insists on mentioning though."
And Sally said: "What do you do? After you walk those cobbles, that’s it. It’s been 13 years now and I’m still not going back! I’ve been in Mount Pleasant for longer than I was in Coronation Street."
Well, such is the power of Coronation Street that once you've been in it, you'll probably always be associated with it. And that can be no bad thing for anyone on TV.
Shame though, that she's not returning. I really like the actress and the character of Shelley was complex too.

She's great. I was a bit surprised when her mum Bev returned for Deirdre's exit storyline, that no-one said to her "how's your Shelley?" Would have been nice for her to have been mentioned...
I liked Shelley but there really isn't much left for her on the STreet anymore.
I am still waiting for Charlie Stubbs son to return and square off with Tracy.
Pretty sure that after his mom tells him Charlie gave her another man's name to avoid responsibility for him, he's more likely to turn up to thank Tracy than square off with her over that deadbeat's demise.
Maricha - that's Holly you're referring to, right? If so, that's a different child - Shelley also left the street pregnant with a baby of Charlie's.
The final episode of Mount Pleasant has just aired. Sadly there was only one full episode and not a full series. I loved Sally in this and the lovely Fiona Griffin in the earlier episodes too.
That was the final episode of the series previously shown last year. It was a repeat. I've seen every episode of every series, it's been brilliant. The show is coming to an end, but they started filming a one off 90 minute special to tie up all loose ends which is to be aired later this year
Actually I've just found out that the final episode is on Sky 1, 9pm, Sunday evening. Gonna miss Sally Lindsay and co
She's great in "Still Open All Hours" where she starts alongside Stephanie Cole (Sylvia, Roy's mum) and is married to Johnny Vegas. Sally had an increased role in the most recent series too :)
