Where are they now? Corrie Icons of the 80s - Kevin Kennedy

This week were taking a look back at some of the Coronation Street icons from the 1980s. Let's find out what they've been up to since they left the show.

Kevin Kennedy who played Curly Watts

Kevin Kennedy played Curly Watts from 1983 to 2003.

Since leaving the show, Kevin has carved out a very successful stage musical career starring in The Commitments, We Will Rock You, Chicago, The Rocky Horror Show, Peter Pan, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

He also signed up for the ill-fated Coronation Street musical, Street of Dreams.

He's also appeared on TV in Holby City and Doctors.

In 2014 Kevin released his autobiography The Street to Recovery in which he talks about his addiction to alcohol and recovery from the addiction too.

There are rumours, often, in the press that Curly may one day make a return to Weatherfield but as yet this has not happened.

He left shortly after I started watching. If he were to return, would Curly have any connections? I think he and Kevin were friends and the oldsters may remember him, but that's it. If he didn't come for Jack and Vera's funerals, they'll need to come up with something plausible. Otherwise, I think it'll be another Maxine Who.

If they are setting up a Police Station on set, Emma Watts could turn out to be the Guv. She could be played by a different actor if needs be. Curly and Emma's son was born on the street and must be about 16 by now. He could add some interest, especially if he was off the rails.

I'd love to see him return for a visit. I think his main connections were Jack, Vera, Emily and Kev, but he'd be known by the older cast members. Norris helped to deliver his son! I like Rapunzel's idea. There could perhaps be more kids and maybe Curly could have become a teacher of astronomy!

Nah. Past his sell by date before he left. It'd be far too contrived for him to return. His character should definitely stay in the past where he belongs
