Coronation Street has won Best Serial Drama in the National Television Awards 2013.

The awards were held, and shown live on ITV, on Wednesday 23 January 2013 from the 02 Arena in that London.

Corrie best off competition from rival soaps EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.

Well done, Corrie! A well deserved award and about time too!

Up on stage to collect the award was Phil Collinson, William Roache, Jennie McAlpine, Antony Cotton, Shobna Gulati, Michelle Collins and many more. New producer Stuart Blackburn was also on stage.

William Roache thanked everyone who voted for Coronation Street to win the prize. He thanked everyone from producer to the make up lady (who was on stage too!).

Phil Collinson thanked everyone who voted too and he dedicated the award to the late Bill Tarmey.

aaw, I was looking to see if Natalie had one. Shame really, she is outstanding in that role, brilliant acting.

The other dramas must be really dire...

Michelle Collins not Collinson?

Congratulations to everyone associated with Coronation Street. Yes, I was rooting (and voted) for Natalie, but she'll definitely be nominated again next year.

Very well deserved. Congratulations to all. Nice to see back room people on stage, too.

I myself think Nathalie deserved the award more than Alan but suspect voters felt sorry for the character more than the actual actity ability. Harsh but I suspect true. Who are the two women at the end to the left?

Very much deserved. And great that Joanna Lumley got an award and that they showed her role on Corrie!

Natalie deserved it more indeed.
Why is STELLA on stage, she is not a key character.

Well, well, well, what a fantastic Swan-song farewell for Phil Collinson this award, also is.

Don't think we've ever allowed him favourable comments on here (a producer's burden eh?) apart from the odd resident blogger who've met him at special events.

But in this world it's results that count, and say what you will, he's scooped 'em all, and leaves for his new venture, with head held high as top dog achiever!

- Well done to all those involved in Corrie.

^ hear hear. I hate those bitter people. He did really well and awards reflect that. There's millions of other viewers and they might love what he did. They might love Stella.

I agree with the last anon, we all know from those who speak loudest what the general opinion is of Collinson, & Collins/Stella for that matter, on here, but I suspect that's just a drop in the ocean considering how many people actually watch it, and obviously a lot more hold a different opinion...myself included, (of Collins/Stella).

Anonymous 1, don't be shy, it's really Phil's Mam isn't it, and the second has to be Sean Tully :)

I voted for Corrie as I watch it and don't watch the others. But if I'm honest apart from the Tyrone/ Kirsty story and a few bits and pieces here and there I really don't think it deserved to win anything. The show is a long way from the quality and standard it was. Sloppy in many areas including continuity and poor shallow characters with no substance.
I feel that Collinson was a jammy so and so to receive this before he left as he's done more damage to the show than good imho.
Looking forward to a fresh beginnings.

It isn't "bitter" or "hateful" to dislike a fictonal character, you know.

This award goes to either corrie or enders every year. At the moment enders is oretty dire, that says more about the. Winner than the producer

I personally feel as a man that Tyrone should grow some gonads and give that woman the boot. I'm a die hard fan of cornanation street and many of these characters have me spitting at the screen as a voice my opinion. At times it like I'm cheering for my favorite sports team. Anyhow! Keep it up coronation street and keep up the excellent job... Greatful Canadian fan
