Since Shayne Ward arrived on the cobbles in 2015, his character Aidan has had his fair share of drama. His arrival was a surprise, where he was called into help his half- sister Carla who was a damsel in distress facing financial difficulties.
The Connor family are a large family which consists of his father Johnny (Richard Hawley) and Kate (Faye Brookes). He has many other relatives including Michelle (Kym Marsh) as his distant cousin and of course Carla (Alison King) who it was revealed was her half-sister in a shocking twist. Aidan and Kate had lost their mother, and Carla was the product of an affair Johnny had with a woman called Sharon.
Aidan's biggest storyline to date being his love triangle with Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon). It has become a tangled web of deceit and lies since he proposed after many months of Eva pushing him! She is now on the warpath with her elaborate revenge plan! So, they have gone from being the cute couple affectionately known as #Aideva to everyone wanting to follow #EvasRevenge. Since faking her pregnancy, doing everything in her power for him to miss the first scan and by getting him pulled over by police, meant he missed putting flowers on mum’s Louisa’s grave; viewers may have felt a tinge of sadness towards Aidan. The wedding has now been moved forward to be joint with dad Johnny and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) much to her dismay. Unbeknownst to the family, this is all part of Eva’s plan to expose Aidan!
Shayne was criticised in the early appearances of being ‘wooden’ and ‘lacking’ in his acting ability. Considering he was best known for winning singing competition the X Factor, Shayne has had many acting experiences including a 12 month stint in hit West End musical ‘Rock of Ages’ playing main character Stacee Jaxx (in a blonde wig and guyliner!), then joining the world tour of Jeff Wayne’s musical ‘War of the Worlds’ alongside actress Carrie Hope Fletcher. Shayne’s passion for acting and has been a dream for him to join the soap from a young age, as Coronation Street was much loved programme for his whole family and when the audition came up he decided to go for it!! Despite the negativity, 2 years later, here he is playing one of the best loved ‘love rats’ on the street! Will #EvasRevenge come to a crescendo on her big day? Cannot wait to what drama is in store for Aidan Connor as he continues to shine on the street!
