In the previews for next week’s Coronation Street, there’s a shock in store when a resident wins a competition to become Weatherfield County’s new mascot.
It’s an unlikely resident – Kirk Sutherland – who becomes the new mascot and this time the mascot is a character called Buzzy Bee. The mascot many years ago was a chicken in the shape of Martin Platt.
Anyway, when Kirk is interviewed by a reporter, the hack jokingly suggests that Kirk runs for mayor against Sally.
Could Kirk do this, I wonder? Would he even want to? Well, someone is going to give Sally a run for her money as she stands for mayor of Weatherfield – and you can read more on that here.

I'd far rather see a serious candidate to oppose Sally - someone like Yasmeen -or, hell, even Brian! Just someone who might have an inkling of what the job entails.
