Simon Gregson interview: Tracy trouble for Steve
Is Steve feeling pressure from Tracy?
Steve is always feeling under pressure from the women in his life, he just wants an easy life so he ends up making promises he can’t keep. Tracy really wants to move but he hasn't been entirely honest with her about what they could afford.
Does Steve want to move out of the flat?
When Amy told them she was pregnant both he and Tracy got carried away with the idea of a house and Tracy hasn’t let the idea go. She doesn’t really want to be living with Liz, he would probably just carry on but it is about time they had their own place.
How has the business been doing?
It has been ticking over but they haven’t really kept up with the times, he and Tim are not the most dynamic duo ever to have run a business, they are both a bit lazy and easily distracted and appears they have been caught napping by the competition. Other companies are using booking apps and under cutting them so the business is starting to struggle.
Why has he kept this from Tracy?
Steve is a past master at putting his head in the sand and he knows that Tracy will kick off so if he can get away with being entirely honest so he has taken the decision that what she doesn’t know can’t upset her.
This week though he has to come clean why?
Tracy has found a house she likes and she is putting pressure on Steve to have a look and make an offer. Steve knows he has to tell her that the business is not doing too well and they will have to make some savings.
How does she react?
Tracy says that he has to think about ways of making some savings, she is a better businesswoman than him and he knows she is right, also he wouldn’t dare argue with her.
What does he think about her idea of picking passengers up off the street?
He wanted to spend some of their savings on setting up a booking app but Tracy is having non of that. He knows what she is suggesting is illegal and risky but he feels under pressure so he takes the risk but it backfires spectacularly and he finds himself caught up in an armed robbery.
Do you feel that calamity follows Steve everywhere?
Absolutely, he is a walking disaster, this could only happen to Steve. But he really does fear for his life, he has been in some scrapes before but this is terrifying. He actually doesn’t know if he is going to get out unscathed or even alive.
