Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 08 May 8.30pm

As promised, here is part two of this Wednesday's Corrie, all wrapped up in a handy blog review.

At The Rovers, Norris explains to Mary that the house sale is far too progressed to stop it. Mary fawns at his conscience but fails to win Norris over.

Promising to head home to get ready for his gig, Alya continues to flirt with Ryan. Bethany tries to apologise with an offering of beer and follows him back to the flat.

Out on Victoria Street, Daniel is putting Carla's missing person posters up and Michelle offers to help. Daniel tells her that Robert has put up a cash reward for any information which leads them to Carla. Gifting flowers to Michelle, the usually cold-hearted Connor softens towards her ex- but is he hiding something?. It wasn't that long ago that Carla was Robert's sworn enemy...

Rita tells Freda that Mary's ex, Brendan, has penned the unopened love letters.

Reconciling with Ryan, Bethany explains her fear about beginning another relationship before leaning in for a kiss- they soon end up in bed together.

Arriving for their date, Corey meets Asha and Amy at Speed Daal.  Meanwhile, Geoff has brought along a hospital radio fan, hoping to ruin Ryan's gig. Doctor Ali's bedside manner is soon tested by Geoff's super fan, Sylvia.

Brendan's love letters are heavy in romantic prose, which leaves Rita and Freda to wonder why Norris had them hidden in the first place. It isn't long before Mary conveniently arrives at The Kabin to discover Norris's deceit.

Late to the gig, Ryan fails to deter Alya from their arranged date. With Ryan spinning a Libertines classic, the waitress becomes upset and runs out of the restaurant. Finding her in the community garden, Ryan consoles her and she admits that the song reminded her of Luke. Suddenly forgetting about her tragically murdered ex - Alya moves in for a kiss with the DJ.

Meanwhile, Amy leaves Asha with Corey for their date, and he also suddenly departs. Outside The Bistro, Sophie spies Paula leaving the street after her lunch with Sally.

Reading the letters, Mary decides to confront Norris. Upset at his subterfuge, Mary grants him a divorce after all.

At the community garden, Ryan admits to Alya that he can't reciprocate the kiss, as he's now seeing Bethany. Alya swears revenge.

Stay tuned. I shall be back same time next week

At least Ryan told Alya the truth, that's not something that happens very often on Corrie.

I've never been keen on Ryan who came across as a lazy yob, but they've given him a personality transplant. He behaved with sensitivity towards both Bethany and Alya and it was refreshing to have a young man being honest.

But why is Alya working as a waitress? Doesn't she have a degree in business studies/ fashion design? Can't she get a proper job "in town"?

Alya basically is part owner of the Speed Dahl. She sold her shares of Underworld and put it all in the restaurant. She isn't a waitress but will help as does Yasmine.

The divorce, house sale, old love letters combination is beyond pathetic. All so dear old Norris can have a couple of weeks wages before heading back to Peru with Emily and Spider!

Blimey Bethany - get to know the lad a bit before jumping into bed with him! Whatever happened to dinner and a movie first!

Fluttershy: I thought the same, but didn't post unless I came across as narrow-minded! Glad I'm not alone 😀.

I opted for watching Spurs v Ajax so your review is very much appreciated. So we are now expected to believe that the dreadful Brendan, who at the time was obviously just out for what he could get, was in fact an incurable romantic? Ridiculous.
