It's all about mothers and daughters, and the odd son, tonight. Firstly, Abi is not settling in well at Streetcars, she is rude to the customers, rude to Steve, and sends drivers to the wrong address. So...she's filling Eileen's shoes then? She has a visit to the twins scheduled, but after finding out that their foster parents are taking them to Lapland for Christmas, she cancels it in favour of drinking herself under the table, sofa and even carpet instead. Seb, who has somehow become a 28 year old hipster in the last few weeks, phones her as she's spying on the twins, and she tells him that she should give up her children as she can't provide anything like the foster parents can for them. She calls Tracy in distress and she and Seb go to find Abi, whom they find out cold in Victoria Street, having smoked some heroin. As she is taken away in an ambulance, Seb tells Tracy that Abi fell apart after she was accused of tampering with Michelle's car. Tracy, in a rare moment of self-awareness, realises that this is all her fault.
It's hairdryers at dawn at the North West Regional Stylist Awards 2018 as Audrey is worried that Claudia will be rubbing her face in Maria. Um, yum? She wants her hair as "boufy as possible", so that she won't be overshadowed by the Lioness King. David, who scrubs up pretty well!, is unkeen on going in a suit that makes him look like he's "going to the funeral of someone he doesn't like," but he accompanies his Gran, plus the lovely Emma to the NWRSA18. You can tell these awards are a posh do, what with it taking place on a Monday afternoon. Ms Colby confesses that she nominated Aud for a lifetime achievement award, which is only for the retired and clapped-out, and she introduces her frenemy as the first salon in Weatherfield to offer the Farah Fawcett do and the Princess Di (a variation on the Purdy). But Aud, who has partaken of the complimentary champagne, outdoes Claud by making an impassioned speech about her substitute daughter, Maria, and how although, she's moving onto her own business, Audrey wishes her all the luck and love in the world, before throwing the bouquet at Claud, dropping the mic and doing an attempt at dabbing (let's just be grateful Mrs Roberts didn't try flossing). Maria and Audrey share a tender moment and they both admit that they miss each other, and Audrey even apologises to Claudia.
Amy is calling the shots with her parents, making them sign her parental contract, which they immediately lose. They sign without reading and fall foul of two rules within two minutes. Amy threatens to become an emancipated minor if they break too many of the statutes, and Tracy threatens Adam when she realises he's helped Amy, but he points out that she's just put her worries into the contract. Tracy makes Amy a 'home'-cooked meal and Amy says she just wants a nice, normal family, before storming off to Ashleigh's. Maybe Steve and Tracy should draw up a behavioural contract for their stroppy daughter?
In other news, Leanne doesn't want there to be any secrets between her and Nick, so she tells him about all her conquests since he disappeared
And finally, the hospital rings Sinead, but Daniel answers and she's forced to agree to go to a chemotherapy session on Friday. And Ken says he wants to give some money to Sinead via the factory's payroll. I think this is called money laundering?
