Corrie Comicals Week ending 9 November 2018

Hi everyone.  I am pleased to be able to thank the medical experts at Frimley Park Hospital for looking after me so well during my visit last Friday, for making my stay slightly briefer than expected and for the outcome to be virtually free of pain.  Having watched last week's epsiodes purely as a viewer I am glad I took a week off as there was little humour in Sinead's story, whilst the dirty dealings in underwear are about par for the course between Carla, Nick and Peter.  If anyone can explain how little Nicky Platt can afford to swan around in a swanky car and cough up a fortune to buy a share in factory (presumably with hard cash) I really would like to know.

Turning to Monday much of the first episode was dominated by Nick Tilsley (see above) trying to explain to his employees and Carla why he was once again a part owner of the factory business.  More entertaining were his rolling eyes and grimaces as everyone apart from Gail struggled to understand his motives or even accept that it was a good idea for him to be a part owner of the factory.  Leanne of course was disappointed that a leopard never changes his spots!  Nick assures Leanne that he can handle Carla and shortly after assures Carla that he will talk Leanne around.  Such an optimist!

Gina does not want to give Dev the wrong impression (she seems less worried about giving Tim the wrong idea) so Tim suggests she does her Adele impression.  I know so little about Adele I cannot observe if the impression was good or bad - but it had them laughing.  Dev was over the top as usual later on and it is clear that Dev likes some aspects of Gina but cannot understand her.  It has been said elsewhere that being Dev's partner is akin to the kiss of death especially if your name ends in "a"(Sunita, Maya, Erica).  Gina is right to walk away.

This caused some laughter in our house when Carla went the full Noddy with those red cheeks.  Not sure what went wrong in make up but I bet Ali King was spitting blood when she saw the effect last night!  It was Nick who was off to meet clients.  However Jan McVerry was on good form on Wednesday as these next few clips will demonstrate.

Moira is suggesting to the newly engaged couple that perhaps they could have a competition (like Russian roulette) using a turkey baster to see who gets pregnant first.  They should listen as Moira (as Helen in another universe) has a lot of experience of the turkey baster approach.

For those living overseas you may wonder why Nick was telling Carla it would take over two hours to cover 53 miles shown as the distance between Manchester and Nottingham, according to the sat nav.  Our traffic is very slow but it is not that slow.  It is 53 miles as the crow flies.  However we like sending people by devious routes and my system tells me that it is more like 81 driving miles and over two hours, which given the current state of the motorways in this country is probably far too accurate to be believed.  A recent under 4 hour journey to Manchester to visit the Street took over 6.  I nearly missed dinner!

A picture tells a thousand words so they say.  And I wonder what story those three pairs of eyes (Gemma, Liz and Moira) are telling themselves as an unknowing Imran chats at one of the booths.  Earlier on Wednesday Tim had accused one of Sally's fellow inmates (the "highwaywoman") of undressing him with her eyes.  Imran looks like he is being undressed by three of them at once!

Come Friday I thought it was a little light on the laughter front.  However Amy (supported by the ever devious Adam) having caught her parents attempting to reunite (above) and decided to ensure it was contractual.  Steve and Tracy will not bother to read the contract as they merely want to resume relations and I bet we will all enjoy her penalty clauses some time next week.

You just know your day is going from bad to worse, you know the sort of thing, your distracted secretary gives you completely the wrong file, your annoying little sister plays noisily with a bouncing ball in your office for 7 minutes so you bundle her out and down the stairs and turn round to find the two most recent conquests - the Battersby duo - sitting there watching you.  And do I detect that one of them would still like to be ravishing you on your desk Imran?  He has just about recovered his composure by the time I can get a decent screen shot!

Extras at Work

I felt a little sorry for the lady waiting in the phone queue behind Sally this week so thought that she deserved recognition for standing there without causing any problems and we did not even get to see her face!
