Shayne Ward is going to be a dad

Coronation Street star Shayne Ward, who plays Aidan Connor, has confirmed that he is expecting his first child with his actress girlfriend Sophie Austin.

The pair are thought to have begun dating several months ago.

Shayne put on twitter: After much speculation I'm overjoyed to announce that @sophieaustin1 and I are expecting our first child. #blessed

Ward, who plays Aidan Connor in Coronation Street, and Austin, who left her role as Lindsey Butterfield in Hollyoaks earlier this year, have led a relatively low profile romance.
