I'm no great fan of Sean but even cynical old me raised a smile on his
behalf when he asked Norris about his spare room on Coronation Street.
I think this pairing could work as lodger and tenant. Not least because Sean and Norris are, at first glance, so very different from each other and could easily wind each other up.
But look under the surface and the similarities are there between these two men. Both are lonely, both can be nasty and both are as camp as Christmas. It might just turn a bit vicious...

I'm still hoping that one of these days Norris will come out of the closet. Perhaps with Sean moving in to live with him while Emily is in Peru* we might see a softer side to Norris. We know it's there, he just keeps it well hidden.
(*she's not coming back, is she?).

I agree this could work! I'd love to see Sean winding up Norris!
A refreshing change would be for Norris to confide in Sean that he's not much interested in 'the downstairs department' in any shape or form. Now there's a new thing for Corrie, a character with no libido at all! It's one of the last taboos. In fact, Norris might divulge that was the real problem with his ex (forget her name): she wanted it all the time, he didn't much if ever. We could find out that Norris isn't a closet homosexual, which Sean might try to get him to confess, but someone who's been made to feel a oddball in our permissive society. I agree Norris and Sean sounds an interesting set-up.
I always thought old Angela might have been a marriage of convenience so Norris and Sean as a couple could work. Many of my gay friends have older partners.
I think Humpty is right on the money. Not everyone is obsessed with sex. I am wondering if Norris' only true love is/was Rita - but actually think that physical sex, of any variety, is just not on his radar.
With regards to the comment about how Norris keeps his soft side hidden,I think he's shown it many times supporting Rita and Emily through their crisis, giving Roy ballroom dancing lessons and more recently taking Kirk in during his marital problems and giving two jars of candy to the Platt children as his way of sympathies after their mother's death.
I sometimes think it's Rita and other characters who can be conscending to Norris is why he's a curmudgeon at times so I hope Sean doesn't wind him up but treats Norris with respect and friendship.
I hope moving Sean away from Eileen's will inspire the writers to inject a spark of life into his moribund character. It does sound promising on paper. I just hope we actually get to see him interact with Norris, and it doesn't turn out to be one of those domestic situations we rarely or never see on screen - like Rita & Dennis, Julie & Brian, Julie/Marcus/Dennis...
I couldn't care less about the romantic or sexual aspect of this relationship, I think the pairing of these two personalities will actually be genuinely entertaining as they will play off each other well, while also bringing some opposing beliefs and behaviours that might make each other's lives more interesting. Odd couple but great pairing of otherwise underused and often poorly written characters.
Sean is a middle aged man with two jobs why can't he get his own flat? Why does he have to rent a room?
The Norris and Sean pairing is brilliant, but I agree with12.50. Why hasn't Sean got his own place?
I agree, this could work! I think both Sean and Norris are awesome in their own ways, they could be the next odd couple!
I'm sure Sean could get his own place, but knowing Sean, he'd be very lonely.
re: Sean not having his own place, some people just like company. Look at his jobs -- both keep him surrounded with people to chat with. If he had his own place, he'd probably find a roommate. I will miss the special friendship he has with Eileen, but this pairing will be interesting.
And if Emily really doesn't come back, Norris is going to need someone to help him get through it. For all his flaws, Sean has always been loyal to his friends.
I agree with the posters who say not all relationships are about sex and getting pregnant while drunk. The majority of our relationships are non-sexual and any drama that fails to represent that becomes just another cheesy soap opera.
I actually am looking forward to this!
I think Sean is the type of person who hates being alone, so will always want to live with someone else. I agree with whoever said above that it will be good to get him away from Eileen. Have his parents ever been mentioned? If they have I can't remember. Hopefully this will be a welcome distraction from all the boring affairs and dramas in the show.
