Secret affair? Sharif?
Oh yes.
And it's been going on for seven whole years.
It all starts when family friend Sonia turns up to help celebrate the Nazir's 45th wedding anniversary.
Sonia |
Grabbing a moment alone with Sharif at the party, Sonia assures him their 7 year affair still remains a secret and he has nothing to worry about. Sharif tells Sonia that much as he cares about her, he's not willing to risk his marriage.
I wonder why Corrie have introduced this major secret that is sure to split the Nazir couple apart? It's bound to... why else would Sonia be introduced to the show with her seven year affair to Sharif? How odd.
Sonia will be played by an award-winning actor. Read about her here.

Aww, the Nazirs were a shining beacon of solid, faithful companionship; a rarity on the Street.
That's given this character his second dimension then. Progress ;o)
No. Just no. After all his outburst when Alya slept with Jason? Sharif is not a hypocrite, nor is he an adulterer. Kate Oates, this does not auger well.
Oh no, no, no! Always happy to watch more Yasmeen, but not this. 45 years of marriage, then tgey move to Conjugation Street and fall foul of the adultery curse! Very unimaginative.
Hopefully this is a means of writing out Sharif, leaving Yasmeen to bloom.
Cobblestone. Apparently, the affair has been going on for 7 years, so nothing to do with the move to Coronation Street
Sharif? Stunned. What a dog. I guess that's him going to be written out of the show.
NO! Poor Yasmeen! Hopefully they won't split up, but if they do, this will give Yasmeen more character development and greater storylines without the sometimes boring Sharif.
I am so disappointed! Can't anyone have a happy marriage?
Thanks for the spoiler.
this doesn't surprise me, after all doesn't everybody sleep with everybody else on the street?? For the writers a happily married couple on the street is like waving a red cape at a bull - you know it's going to end in disaster. They just can't let people be happy. Corrie is getting to be like an American daytime soap more and more. Does not bode well for quality entertainment.
No. This isn't right. Sharif has been the long-suffering yet in love partner...as mentioned above together they were the beacon of faithfulness. Do not like.
This must be part of the shake up. I can't see it being anything other than an exit storyline. We wouldn't miss Sharif, or Alya, as we hardly see them these days. The family was not properly thought out. It would have been better if it had just been the grandparents bringing up wayward young people. And why are they even living on the Street? The senior Nazirs would appear to have the money to live on Audrey's. It could be that Marc Anwar has had enough and wants to move on.
O gawd! Not another affair, yawn!
And don't get me started on the number of bedrooms in those tiny houses.
I'm also disappointed in yet another affair storyline.
It's so sad as I liked the Nazirs.Who's next to cheat?
Since Kevin fathered a child with his best friend's wife,Sally better not make nasty comments to Yasmeen either.
Instead of a new producer,Corrie needs to be cancelled.
Great, more bed hopping. Yawn...
@ Dolly Tubb
I think this is still Stuart's storyline, for Kate's will not start until September.
Completely unbelievable, given the previous character development of this family. This show needs new storyliners, people who understand that there are more possibilities than affairs and pregnancies after one-night stands.
I know that. I was taking a satirical swipe at the narrow range of plot devices we're constantly confronted with.
But thanks anyway.
Looks like someone deleted my earlier post, so here's the gist of it. Why on earth would Sharif have an affair? He and Yasmeen always come across as quite loved-up, plus the early deaths of their daughter-in-law and son would have brought them closer. The whole family also has strong religious and moral values (Zeedan refusing to sleep with Rana), so adultery would be off the agenda. Yes, I do remember Alya's one-night-stand with Jason after getting drunk in her grief after her Dad's death, but that didn't ring true either.
I guess Sharif suffered a bit too long and looked elsewhere. Perhaps the affair ended some time ago and it's just rearing it's head now. I agree, I have a feeling it signals the end of Sharif, but I do hope Yasmeen sticks around.
I don't mind this. Some people have long marriages with mistresses on the side. It's an interesting development. Would be more complex if Yasmeen knew but turned a blind eye.
Oh great. Another affair. Just what we needed.
*stifles yawn*
If things were like this back in the day, we never would have had Jack and Vera. And further back, several other stalwart couples too.
TPTB abhor stalwart couples - they either sleep around or act like 12 yr olds.
So, so disappointed with this story line. As others have said why is so wrong to have a happily married couple on Corrie? They do exist in real life you know.
happily married couples do not exist in real life according to the writers. Hmmm, makes you think that they would have to work really extra hard to make happy couples interesting, it's a lot easier to write trashy scripts with love triangles, one night stands - who's your daddy?? secrets let out of the bag, etc,etc
Seven whole years? Ha. More like it's only just come out of the writer's heads now. Honestly - can't we have something more original than people cheating on each other? It doesn't make for interesting viewing after the first 5000 times.
I thought he only loved his chickens - they must be seriously jealous now ;)
I just wish there was one family on the street that wasn't involved in affairs and the cheating and lying that goes along with it - just one would be nice. I am really becoming disappointed in the writers and the fact that they just can not get past this type of story line.
