Woah there! I've just had to read this week's TV Times twice just now.
Not only is Craig Tinker's real dad turning up in Coronation Street in a fortnight, but he'll be played by actor Paul Loughran, best known for playing Butch Dingle in Emmerdale.
It's a soap fandago!
Craig's dad will arrive when Beth is forced to come clean to Craig about his real dad. He's called Darryl - so now we know who Craig's pet rat is named after!
It's not the first time actor Paul Loughran has been in Coronation Street. He's played two minor roles before.

I just Craig stays on the straight and narrow and goes to college or does a job other than the usual on the street. Just for a change.
What perfect casting! He looks like he could be Craig's dad!!
I was hoping it was Steve, but with Steve's prolific seeding and my love of gingers I will take this story line! I, too, hope that Craig stays the sweet charmer he is and makes good.
I really, really hope Craig makes a future for himself on the street. Goes to school, gets a trade or something. Last thing we need is another deadbeat kid sponging off their parents.
Perfect casting!
All though I have to admit, I, too, have always thought that Steve might eventually turn out to be Craig's da!
Welcome Butch Dingle!

Great casting! I hope he will be a "good guy", like most people I want Craig to stay nice and not go off the rails.
I am so much looking forward to this story line! Great choice in picking this actor to portray Craig's dad. Craig is such a sweetheart,
a gentle giant of a teenager.
Only thing that needs to be addressed is Craig being more assertive. He's set his goal on becoming a police officer, but lacks assertiveness in taking action. Such as when kylie' killer showed aggression in the kabob shop Craig goes "Please don't hurt me". He wasnt in any danger and said that. Later when kylie confronts the thug, Craig looks on, freezes in his tract with a gapping mouth.
I would like to see him being more brave than someone who sees trouble and runs away. Yes he is portraying a teenager, but I've known plenty in real life, who've been far more assertive and braver in worse situations. There is a very brave and smart person in him, but it's time to briņg him out. Other then that, Craig is a definatly Corrie keeper.

I agree Mary Calahan: I was surprised to read that Craig wanted to be a policeman, given his terrified reaction to the kebab shop heist.
With regards to Craig not being assertive enough,I thought he held his own going after Macca who was trying to intimidate Gemma into retracting her witness statement that Clayton killed Kylie.
Since he's artistic, perhaps Craig can become a police sketch artist?
I hope though that the there isn't another affair storyline between Beth and her ex.I would hate to see Kirk betrayed.
