A tabloid story yesterday from The Mirror is picked up again today in the Manchester Evening News so it's probably worth putting on the Coronation Street Blog today.
The story is that Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, and is currently suspended from work while child sex-abuse claims are investigated, has met Coronation Street bosses to discuss his future on the soap.
Michael was reportedly told that he does have a future on the ITV1 soap if cleared of child sex charges. They also revealed they have penned a major new storyline involving Kevin if he does walk free after his trial.
It is understood that a future episode will see Sally tell her neighbours that Kevin has had to leave Weatherfield to care for his dad Bill who has fallen ill. This would leave the door open for Michael to return to the show if he is cleared of the offences.
Michael stands trial in September.
