In another landslide victory, Blanche Hunt has beaten the competition and has been crowned as the best Corrie battleaxe by Coronation Street Blog readers.
361 fans voted and an astounding 233 (64.54%) voted for Deirdre's sharp-tongued mother. With her popularity amongst fans, it comes as no surprise that she has come out on top.

In second place was the original Corrie battleaxe Ena Sharples with 81 votes (22.44%). I did think that it was going to be a close competition between Blanche and Ena, but I was wrong!
In third place was Roy's mother, Sylvia Goodwin with 16 votes (4.43%).
Both Ivy Tilsley and Maud Grimes were close behind with 15 (4.16%) and 13 (3.6%) votes respectively.
Under the 'other' option, voters named Gail McIntyre, Eileen Grimshaw and Gloria Price as their favourite battleaxe with each one securing a vote each.
Are you happy with the results? Surprised? Should Ena, as the original battleaxe, take the trophy instead?

There are many new and young Corrie viewers who never knew Ena Sharples.
Voted for Ena. I love Blanche too but she became a little too reliant on one-liners towards the end. Boy could Maggie Jones pull it off though.
