Whodunnit? Who cares?
So we learn that Tina McIntyre is to be killed off next year. The Rovers barmaid cum child minder cum Rita's surrogate daughter will probably be murdered. Apparently this storyline will run for some considerable time and involve many cast members.
Yes, my Corrie friends, this can only mean one thing: a Whodunnit mystery. To be honest, I've seen this coming. In recent times, young Tina has made oh so many enemies for herself, and not just in our house. Let's recap Tina's eventful few months...
She's upset the Armstrong-Windass applecart by reneging on the yawnsome surrogacy deal and initially refusing to hand over baby Jake. She's taken David Platt in, making an enemy of Kylie, and chucked him out again making an enemy of David. She's put a brick through Tracy's shop window. And of course she's about to embark on a cringey affair with Peter Barlow. I reckon Carla could have Tina in a fight any day. Mind you, Mrs Connor would probably just set one of her minions on the barmaid...she could always ask Michelle, if she can be bothered to stop pouting and uncross her arms.
My ideal outcome to what is likely to be a lumbering storyline over many months, or "explosive" as the powers that be often choose to describe it, is for Tracy Barlow to be the culprit. I've been looking for a plausible way for Tracy to be removed from our screens ever since her pointless return what seems like 25 years ago. She still has no redeeming qualities, even when face to face with Faye and Grace. Making Tracy the murderer would be a convenient way to kill two birds with one stone, as it were.
If Tracy is only being kept on to give Deirdre some family, let's see someone else from Deirdre's past come back and provide a bit of colour. What about Blanche's sister? Tracy would be an excellent choice - she already has form. I for one would love Tina's demise to be a full-blown homage to Charlie Stubbs' offing of 2007. Maybe the powers that be will turn Tina gay just so Tracy-luv can get herself dolled up and perform that charming dance once more? Wouldn't that be a fitting swan song? That ornament must surely still be knocking about amongst Anna Windasses' nicknacks.
Or maybe Crazy Kirsty will escape from jail, return to Weatherfield and get her own back on Tina for all those tedious parking escapades that provided the early indication that lovely Kirsty was a tad unhinged? I'd forgive the flurry of sequins and the faint echo of a poorly timed Bruce Forsyth gag just to see Natalie Gumede make a return.
The prospect of another big whodunnit storyline doesn't fill me full of enthusiasm. We've seen it all before. Someone will be wrongly suspected and imprisoned, everyone else will look conveniently guilty at regular intervals and there will be more red herrings than Frescho's fish counter can provide. The main suspects will all be lined up for an identity parade photo shoot and nobody will be allowed to give anything away until the big reveal.
Tina has been front and centre of far too many storylines for my liking, she does tend to dominate. However I have enjoyed aspects of the character and Michelle Keegan has definitely been an asset to Coronation Street. I hope she does really well when she moves on to pastures new. I just think Corrie could serve her better than simply bumping her off in a painting by numbers story. I may be wrong of course, it may have us completely gripped. I'd just hoped for some fresh ideas.
What would your ideal send off be for Tina McIntyre? And if she does have to meet a grisly end, who would you like to see do time for the crime?

Maybe they'll bring in a new character called Hugh and he can murder Tina so it'll be a Hugh Dunnit.
Or one of her dad's debtors could crawl out of the woodwork and do her off.
Is do her off a technical term?
Love this post!
The way that Tina is forced into storylines is very frustrating to watch. I have no interest in watching this awful Tina and Peter thing. They look like father and daughter.
Peter's great with Carla. Are we supposed to forget that they've been through hell to be together? I even like Peter in the factory now and I really don't want to watch him go back to his old ways. Quite frankly, I'm bored of watching the same thing over and over.
I guess that this is the beginning of the end for Tina and I suspect that Peter will be revealed as the murderer in the end.
If this were a poll, Tracy would win hands-down. I've got to the point with this character's boring presence that I don't really care if she goes off in a blaze of glory storyline - as long as she goes. However, given the chance of come-uppance, she definitely comes top of the list. It would be a neat irony if Tracy didn't intend to kill Tina but gets done for murder based on her track record.
By the way, 'killed off' doesn't necessarily mean murdered. Tina could die a hero, eg: saving Simon from I-haven't-worked-that-bit-out, and Peter leaves town overcome with grief.
It's probably going to be someone like that drug dealer / loan shark that she and Tommy helped put away who will come back for revenge. But of course, there'll be a suspects list a mile long like what was done with Frank a few years back but it's a red herring.
I think what's probably going to happen is that David will be making some in-roads to repairing his family only for everything to be ruined when he's accused of murder. And despite Gail having gone through the same thing before, neither she or anyone else will be on his side.
If something like this happens, we haven't seen the worst of David by far... he'll snap completely and even after everything comes out I could see him planning to ruin the lives of his mother, Kylie, Nick and everyone else who ruined his.

I think it's a euphonium
I think it might be Gary. He had a bit of a thing for her at one point. She said in the interview that viewers would be probably be able to guess who kills her in the New Year, so I could see Gary becoming obsessed with her and start stalking her, eventually killing her. He is hardly ever in it now so he definitely wouldn't be missed.
Is Peter definitely leaving? I know that there was a rumour going around a short while back but was it actually confirmed?
I think Tracy poisons Tina's orange paint/self tanner.
(The other) Rebecca
I think her death will be accidental, and will involve Peter Barlow. He's probably fallen off the wagon and that will have something to do with it. Tracy wouldn't kill Tina because she threw a brick through her window and Peter is leaving the show too so it would make sense for him to have had something to do with it and go off to prison after being found guilty of manslaughter.
It's Rita. She finally has enough of Tina mooching off her and her endless problems. Warning to younguns: Don't p***off the OAPs.
I myself personally like Tina. If Tracy were to kill her off and go to jail again, though, it would sort of be a Pyrrhic victory.
Tina used to be so cute and feisty. Pity how over exposure and too much orange spray tan can ruin a once bright spark of a character!
Loved this post. It *does* seem like 25 years that the vile Tracy-Luv has been back! :-)
I don't recall seeing anything definate either. The only place I've heard this is in replies to stories here.

here's the link to the story about Chris Gascoyne leaving Corrie:
http://coronationstreetupdates.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/chris-gascoyne-to-leave-coronation.html
Have ITV actually confirmed hes leaving though?
I wish Tina's never seen mom would die & leave her some serious money. She comes up with some dream she & her dad once had and goes to live it out. She keeps Rita happy with occasional visits and cards. (I like happy endings. We haven't had one for a while.)
Thanks for the link, but all it really says is that his contract is up in a year. Isn't that what many of the actors sign up for and then either extend their contracts or not every year or two? The article went from having a question mark in the actual title to people wishing him well within about three posts! I may have something -- is there confirmation widely seen in the UK that we didn't see in Canada?
Michelle Keegan reminds Frosty a bit of Katherine Kelly - a good actress and memorable character but ruined yet again by the PTB by pushing her into almost every scene. You would have thought they would have learnt their lesson but no. Michelle is also a stunning girl and although I dont think she will crack Hollywood (although who knows) I think she will do quite well and wont need to return like other desperates - sorry Kate Ford - you are a lovely woman I am sure but you are a tiresome unpopular character played poorly.
Tina's death should end up being an accident caused by Faye and Grace.
Hmmm.....I read an interview with Michelle Keegan and Chris Gascoyne. Michelle said she was glad that Corrie is keeping the door open for her if she decides to return in the future....so is it written in stone that Tina is to be killed off...?
CG signed an extension to this contract until May/14 or close to, so it won't be him, unless they're planning on dragging the who-dunnit on for how long - depends on when Tina croaks.
I think it will be Rob who does it for Carlas betrayal. I hope it is Rob and he gets sent down for life. He's a rubbish actor
Instead of whodunnit,I wonder when is it going to happen, when will Tina be killed off? The Tina\Peter affair keeps dragging on and on with no signs of it ending.Worse both Steve and his mother know and yet they're keeping quiet thus allowing Tina to get away with it again and the affair going on au nausem.
