Jason Grimshaw's dad returns to Corrie for a fling with Liz

The official Coronation Street website confirms that  Jason Grimshaw's dad will be returning to Coronation Street.  And he'll be played by a different actor to the one who we've seen play Jason's dad in the past.

Actor Terence Maynard, who played Helios in the BBC’s hit fantasy drama Merlin, has been cast as Jason Grimshaw’s wayward dad Tony Stewart.  Read Terence Maynard's IMDB profile here.

The Star reveals that he will also be the new fella for Liz McDonald.

The paper says: "Fans will see Tony make an unexpected arrival while Jason is having a cosy night in with his girlfriend Eva.

He walks through the door and tells Jason: “Good to see you lad. I’m trying to make up for lost time, 30 years is a long way back.  You and me are going to be proper father and son, I’m telling you now.”

Jason's dad Tony Stewart was originally played by actor Alan Igbon (pictured left).

For Christ's sake. Is that all the writer's in this show can think of? The woman needs a man. Without one they are not complete.
Blah.

The actor is only aged 44, so about 10 years too young to be Jason's dad. Maybe he'll look older on screen.
