Last chance to enter to WIN! Rula Lenska's autobiography

Competition closes today, Sunday 17 November 2013 at 5pm

Remember Aud's friend, Claud?  Actress Rula Lenska who played Claudia on Coronation Street has just released her autobiography and we have three copies to be won in a very special competition here on the Coronation Street Blog.

I've read the book and the pages she writes about her time on Coronation Street are wonderful.  She reveals a little bit of gossip and writes with real warmth about her time on the show and friendship with Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts.

To be in with a chance of winning one of these three fab books all you have to do is email me at glenda.young@btinternet.com with RULA in your email subject header and the correct answers to the following two questions. Three winners will be drawn from all correct entries received.  Overseas fans can enter. Deadline for entries is Sunday 17th November at 5pm.

Entries from moneysavingsexpert, Loquax and all other competition entry websites will not be included.

If you're not lucky enough to be drawn out as a winner, Rula Lenska's book "Rula, My Colourful Life" can be purchased with a special Coronation Street Blog discount at  www.therobsonpress.com/promotions

Just enter the code CORRIE to be taken to a hidden page where the book is available cheaper than anywhere else!

Here are your questions, good luck!

Q1: In Coronation Street, what was Claudia's surname?
Q2: According to the official ITV Coronation Street website, on what date did Claudia first make her appearance on Coronation Street?

I know she's a somebody in Britain, but in the US, Rula Lenska will always be the VO5 Hairspray spokeswoman, the international celebrity nobody had ever heard of. In the days before Google, IMDB and the lot, she was known for being unknown. "Who the H*$$ is Rula Lenska" was a famous gag on Late Night with Johnny Carson, and Saturday Night Live made skits about her.

I wish my Uncle Larry were still around - I'd buy him this book for a good laugh.

I was first aware of her in the 70's when she was one of the stars in Rock Follies. It was excellent, as was she.

Sorry to see that the US appears to be so rude.

Americans feel they have exclusive rights on celebrity. If they don't know an actor, he or she cannot possibly be famous.

Gee whiz, guys. Put yourself in the 70s. No People Magazine. No Entertainment Tonight. Siskel & Ebert weren't putting thumbs up yet (you can Google those American references now, but you couldn't then). Some chick whose 'starring role' movies have never been released over here is suddenly made the face of a popular brand and all 175 million people can say is 'Who Is Rula Lenska?' Not an effective marketing campaign, but great comedy fodder.

There was no disrespect, only a different perspective. Sorry you don't like Americans. I'll bet you're glad Corrie isn't written in German.

Abby, I didn't say I didn't like Americans - I have quite a few American born-and-bred relatives.

Doesn't stop me from thinking that taking the piss out of someone - anyone - is rude. So I stand by my comment.
