With the very sad news that Hayley Cropper will be leaving Coronation Street this year as actress Julie Hesmondhalgh takes on new projects, it's time to think about how we'd like to see Hayley written out of our favourite show.

Just leave the door open for her to come back. N I'm a C G M O O H for her!!!
Becky's pregnant, and Hayley goes to help her out - and doesn't come back, staying on as a nanny/mum of sorts. Roy goes at first, but misses Weatherfield too much, and comes back. Hayley, being the lovely giving sort she is, stays behind and eventually Roy gets a Dear John in which Hayley states she needs to be where she is needed, in order to feel fulfilled in life (which is rather true to character). Roy is crushed, but in his usual pragmatic way carries on. Just don't make Roy and Mary hook up after - that would be very very horrid and unbelievable.
p.s. love Julie, going to miss her on the show very much
I hope they don't kill her but I worry that anything else would not be believable as they are so strong a couple. I hope if Roy stays they do not put him with Mary! That would be dreadful!
I hope they keep the door open for her if she leaves Roy behind. The sadness is that Roy and Hayley are the moral compass of the soap; nobody takes much notice of Emily. There really is a role for a youngish version of Percy Sugden, Blanche, Betty etc as a counter-point to the 'anything goes' morality on the Street. I could see Roy becoming friends with a new male character who had a similar outlook.
I like the idea of her leaving to help Becky with her child... or perhaps a brood, if Becks decides to open and orphanage where she's at. However, Becky would have a hard time being the reason that Hayley and Roy are split up. It would leave the door open for a future or guest visits.
Oh PLEEEEZ don't let him end up with Crazy Mary!!!!

I suggested this before but it bears repeating here. The advisor (to the writers on the subject of transsexuals) mentioned that Hayley's mother had left when she was 12 (and was still Harold). Hayley could get word that her mother had turned up but was unwell and requiring nursing care. Not only would this allow for some interesting exchanges in this coming year, with the mother coming to terms with having a daughter instead of a son, but it would allow Hayley a reason to go where she's needed, but leave the door open for occasional guest appearances and a possible future return. It would also allow for Roy's absences if he so wished, since he could sometimes go to visit and to help out.
P.s. The other advantage to this storyline is that Roy's mum can come back to help Roy cope, which will bring them closer.
According to wiki - Hayley will be killed off in a Lewis related plot! I sincerely hope not - please don't trust wiki!!
Well, considering that she's not leaving for almost a year yet, there's no way they know at this point how she's leaving. Wiki is only written by fan contributions and not to be relied on.
Im hoping Lewis will be long gone by the time Hayley goes! Please!_ Micky
I agree with Tvor, it's a long way off, yet. However, I just can't imagine how they'll write her out. It's such a huge impact on the character of Roy. How will that play out for him? Interesting how important this character is to the stories and fans.
Wholeheartedly agree that Hayley should NOT be killed off, but some plausible story where she has to be away for the majority of time but perhaps could make the occasional guest appearance, unless Jule is against that...hope not!
