Coronation Street plays cult punk anthem

Cult punk track Alternative Ulster blasted out to millions of viewers of the show as two former lovers from Northern Ireland were reminiscing about their past, says The Belfast Telegraph

Alternative Ulster by Stiff Little Fingers was said by Jed and Vicky to have been "their song".

Vicky Jefferies - played by Kerri Quinn from Belfast - and her ex-partner Jed Moss, played by Corrie newcomer Branwell Donaghey is from Eglinton near Limavady.

At one point Jed, who's the father of Vicky's tearaway son Tyler, told another Corrie character: "This used to be our song. I wooed her for months, she didn't want to know but when I took her to see a punk band she was putty in my hands."
