Audrey's investigation into Emma's paternity has begun in earnest, and Liz is eager to consult her son on the findings. Steve though, has other ideas. Busy with a unicorn party, he's otherwise distracted and disregards Liz's subtly serious tone.
Fearing flight-risk Vicky is about to depart for Ireland, it looks like Robert is finally realising where his loyalties must lie. Completely distracted by her new job, betraying Alya, and a (totally not ominous) ring repair, Michelle is as ever self-absorbed and does little to notice how frazzled Robert is, sending him on an errand to repair this ring. Heading over to Vicky's, Robert gets caught in an impassioned argument, flees the scene, and accidentally drops the ring, only for Tyler to find it.
Vicky's seems only too happy to accept the 'proposal'!
Over at No.5, Chesney is being continually wound-up by Bernie's ridiculous behaviour and is further riled when she racks up a £70 parking fine, in his car! How will she pay him back?
Bumping into Emma at Roy's Rolls, Steve offers condolences about her father's death and learns that her Mum, is called Fiona Brooker 'nee' Middleton AKA Steve's long forgotten ex-girlfriend!
Offering her a consoling hug, Liz walks in on them both, and demands to speak to Steve in private, immediately!
Also meeting in Roy's, Yasmeen tells Cathy that Geoff has become rather protective since the (faux) burglary/mugging. Cathy invites her to a 'bridge' night instead, in the hope of giving her some well deserved freedom.
Dev's return from India is already fraught what with Evelyn's gambling den and Asha's teenage tantrums. However, it seems Evelyn's dodgy discounting has increased Dev's profits. Asha still seems troubled though and is reluctant to head out with Summer.
Audrey offers to help Emma with her father's funeral preparations. Distraught with the sudden death, Emma's resolves to never know her real father and tells Audrey that's exactly what she will do. Sat on Maxine's bench, this was beautifully done, and of course, was a subtle bit of foreshadowing (Maxine was Fiona's best pal).
Meanwhile, Steve is back from the unicorn party and Liz finally has chance to tell him the life changing news, following Audrey's investigation.
Wiping unicorn poo from his trousers, it looks the proverbial has just hit Steve in the face!

Jeanie (anon): What's with all the tasteless, silly jokes on the show these days? The horse pee, ironing Chesney's bum crack, Bernie's crude antics--it's all kind of cringe-worthy and not very funny!
Jeanie, that's what the writers consider to be comedy. Epic fail! They must all be schoolchildren.
