Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 14 Aug 8.30pm

Accepting the fake proposal as truth, Robert commits to Vicky and it looks like he has got himself another secret wedding to organise. At Speed Daal, Yasmeen tells Geoff about her bridge club invite, and the ever-increasing creep decides to join Yasmeen and tells her he's an expert in the game.

Liz starts explaining Emma's conception date and Steve is struggling to accept the maths. Even questioning Jim's fertility, Liz quickly dismisses that idea, and a recent fan myth is dispelled very swiftly. Steve is reluctant to accept the truth and confesses to Tim that he'd rather ignore the possibility. Liz admits to Audrey that Steve now knows their theory.

Dev visits Evelyn and tells her that the business has improved in his absence. Veiled insults and backhanded compliments aside, these two seem to like each other, and  Dev asks Evelyn to come back to the shop.  Evelyn accepts Dev's offer -with a little help from granddaughter Ruby. Unfortunately, Dev doesn't have the same close relationship with his ever distant daughter, Asha.

Also talking business, Alya goes to see Michelle about her plan for Ray's catering company. Although Michelle lets her down gently, Ryan is upset with his Mum and tells her exactly what he thinks of her. Once again Michelle has her own way - what a surprise! Will Ryan try to make Ray change his mind?

At The Rovers, Bernie tries a sly 'charity' collection to raise funds for the parking charge. You can't kid a kidder though, and our Jenny Bradley is not convinced by Bernie's attempt at theft.

Confronting Michelle, Robert tries to tell her the truth about him and Vicky but (again!) she's side-lined by Ryan and Alya's approach to Ray and is completely self-absorbed and ignorant to Robert's double-crossing. Is it me, or does she deserve it (a little bit)?

Thanking Robert for all his support, I think she does...

How is Michelle is supposed to work out Robert is cheating on her?

All this multiple engagement malarkey with Robert, Michelle and Vicky - isn't this pretty much exactly how Peter ended up committing bigamy, all those years ago?

Trouble is, these days, actors announce they plan to leave so when anything extreme happens, you know it's their exit story. The Vicky saga is just a way to say goodbye to Robert and Michelle. Can't say I'll be sorry to see them go. @David, I reckon the ring is going to be Robert's downfall. Maybe Michelle sees the ring on Vicky's finger or she goes to the jeweller to find that Robert has never been in.

Frankly I don't care about Robert, Michelle or Vicky will be very glad to see the back of all of them.

I resorted to fast forwarding whenever Robert came on screen. There are way too many repetitive scenes with Robert and Vicky, Robert and Michelle, Robert telling yet another lie. They neeed to wind this story up, it’s just tedious now.

Here’s a thought. The Archers (my other soap obsession) runs on a budget which limits each episode to a maximum of seven characters. How about a similar limit on the Street? I had to look up Bernie to remind me who he/she is!!!

I was disgusted that Steve, after the horse had weed on him, could wander into the cafe and then sit on his settee at home dabbing his leg with a towel. I would have been straight home put the trousers in the wash and had a shower. Ugh!
