Coronation Street lines up summer storyline for Rana

Coronation Street producer Kate Okates has teased a  story for Rana Nazir coming up this summer that looks set to explore her past.

Kat told Soaplife magazine (story via Digital Spy):  "We'll get a deeper insight into Rana Nazir this summer. Why has this previously flighty woman settled for married life, and what secrets lie in her past?"

I'm not enthused by this as I don't rate Rana at all and never have done. She's one of those characters that I've tried to like, I really have, but I can't. I haven't warmed to her at all and for this fan, I'd be glad to see the back of her. Indeed I listed her as one of the three characters I'd like to get rid of.

But that's just my opinion. Others may enjoy seeing Rana and be glad to read that she's going to have a storyline this summer.  I'd be happy to hear your opinions, as always.

I'm with you, FN.

I disagree.
I like Rana and the other Nazirs and hope they all get a storyline soon.

I disagree as well. I like the Nasir's and wish they would use them in more storylines. I think Rana and Zeedan are a good couple. I like Yasmeen as well. I did not like Yasmeen's husband (forgot his name). I'm glad he's gone
The family just needs more drama in their life!

It's hard to warm up to a character who you don't see very often. I'm looking forward to seeing this storyline and that they're giving it to someone other than a Barlow or Platt for a change.

I'm with you. She's not a favourite for me, either. Maybe having a storyline of her own will make her more interesting.

I don't dislike her, but she really hasn't been given much to do. I'd like to see more of the Nazirs. Yasmeen could be a strong Corrie woman if given a chance.

i don't mind Rana, i've heard rumours of her and Kate becoming a lesbian couple. I hope that won't happen and they push her and Zeedan with an original storyline.

None of the Nazirs have ever worked for me. It's a shame because I think all of them have/had potential but it always seems they never know quite what to do with them and so they've ended up doing very little over all the years they've been in the show.
Unfortunately I think it is coming time for them to shape up or ship out, if the writers don't know what to do with them it's probably time for them to go.

I'm reserving judgement, so don't agree with you FN as to Rana. However, I do agree that they need to give Rana and the other Nazirs some meaty storylines so that people like me are forced to hop off the fence!

I always liked Rana.Let's see what they do with her. She is one of the few women on the street who is educated and does not work at the knicker place or Rovers or Bistro. I hope they don't have her having an affair though. But given the Corrie writer's record, this seems imminent.

At the storylines lately, the writers would make her have an affair with Kevin lol just kidding. I agree, it is nice to see an educated character on the show.

Knowing the Corrie writers, she'll cheat on Zeedan with a one night stand with Ken Barlow and end up with a "surprise" pregnancy.
