Public to vote on plans for old Coronation Street site

With thanks to Prolific North for bringing this to our attention today.

The site of the old Coronation Street is set for extensive development for housing and business. And now, plans for the former Granada Studios site in Manchester have gone out to the public today.

Exhibiting the complete detailed plans publicly for the very first time, Allied London is hosting a number of events over the week for industry professionals, decision-makers and local residents. The consultation is a three-day event from Tuesday 23-Thursday 25 June and will be held at Old Granada Studios on the future St. John’s site.  Much more info here.

The developer, Allied London, is holding a consultation event inviting local residents to share their thoughts on the future of St. John’s which will include up to three hotels, The Factory theatre and other performance venues, and up to 2,500 new apartments within what’s described as ‘elegant towers fronting the River Irwell.’

The three-day showcase of the plans it will submit to Manchester council for St John’s starts today. Allied aims to start work on St John’s in mid-2016.  Continuum, the group running the Coronation Street tours on the old site, have confirmed they will close down at the end of 2015. More here.
