Sad news today that actor Pete Postlethwaite has passed away. Postlethwaite was once described by the film director Steven Spielberg as "probably the best actor in the world today".
Pete once appeared on Coronation Street. On 21 January 1981 he played Detective Seargant Cross who was investigating Mike Baldwin's dad's blue movie scam.
His full obituary is in The Guardian.

RIP, Peter. I didn't know he was in Corrie, but I've always enjoyed his characterizations, and loved him in "In The Name Of The Father".
This sucks. Sooooooooo many good roles.
Rest easy Mr. Kobayashi.
What a great loss! Loved him in Brassed off and Age of Stupid. Does anyone have of photo of him as Detective Seargant Cross? It's hard to believe he's gone - too soon.
Slightly annoyed that the Times obituary never mentioned his recurring role in Sharpe with Sean Bean. He was pure evil in that ro;le.
