John Whiston, Managing Director of Continuing Drama at ITV has confirmed today that coronavirus related storylines will be added to ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
Corrie will include scenes informing the public about how to take precautions to limit the spread of the virus.
Mr Whiston said: "Because we script and shoot so far in advance we don't generally reflect contemporary issues. However we are going to use the soaps to remind people of important public health issues."
In Monday's episode of Geoff asked Yasmeen if she sang happy birthday twice while washing her hands. But it was just a coincidence as the scene was written last year and filmed in January.
It's been reported that the soaps could go down to just two episodes a week. See Corrie bosses release statement over coronavirus fears.
The Corrie cast member who had been quarantined after showing symptoms has now been tested negative and is back at work.
