A much loved character like Rita! She takes such an interest in others. She has Jenny who looks on her like a mother. She is known in the community. What message is Corrie sending to the elderly. Rita should have been used to help a lonely old woman, not become one.
Writers are really going amiss with this one...just like throwing poor Gail on the scrap heap of sad laughter. Empower these women for goodness sakes! Even us gals in our 50's need positive role models!

Totally agree. Rita has helped so many characters over the years, both financially and emotionally, that she would never be left alone at Xmas. In fact, folk would be fighting to have her join them be a useful she is also good company.
