Oh joy - more Gemma.

That's not me watching then.

Jan is ‘roativ’?, is this some strange Polish word for a man who is soon to be revealed as a nail bar slave trader?!

Why should we care about Gemma? Axe her and her convict brother.

It’s obviously all down to the scriptwriters (Jonathan Harvey, do your best!), but I think Gemma will evolve into a main character over the years. And, unlike too many on the Street, she can act!

Totally disagree with you David, I don't think she can act at all. Awful character played by a mediocre actress.

I've also given up watching - due solely to Gemma Winter.

Think it was supposed to be romantic not roativ, David. Came direct from itv, I have no time to proof read these, sadly.

Go Gemma Go!! If you call shouting and screaming good acting then it isn't for me. Just find the character simply annoying.

Dolly Rose Campbell is a very good actress She is nothing like her character Gemma. That's the distinction and how the character of Gemma is written

My point entirely. She is a very good actress and once the scriptwriters start to recognise this, and her potential, anbd build her character, I will be proved right. Think how Sarah Lancashire, Katherine Kelly and Suranbne Jones started......

Sarah Lancashire and Suranne Jones were in Corrie before these endless episodes swallowed up available time to improve performances. Katherine Kelly, a fine actress, was a nightmare by the end of her Corrie stint. Becky slobbered over Steve and threw herself about the set. These larger-than-life comedy performances are great on stage but just too much for the small screen. Actors don't have the time or probably the inclination to review their performances. The producer should make it mandatory for them to watch an episode to see how they come across to an audience.

If the actress is good then she's done a great job of hiding it. I do blame the mediocre scripts she's been given too but a lot of what takes away from her character isn't likely to have been written out for her to do.
She's the one who thinks the fastest way to show her character is unpolished is to eat with her mouth open and have an idiotic expression on her face. She hangs on to that way of being Gemma even when the script gives her an opportunity to play with more subtlety.
So her acting has made bad scripts seem even worse than they would have been with an actress with more range.

Sigh...I feel as though I should be writing an obituary for my fave program.
.......
I've watched Corrie most of my life and I'm so disappointed in the direction the show's taken. The extra episode a week is almost a chore to watch.
Instead of developing characters the ptb keep throwing new characters that we don't know and don't care about (or in Gemma's case..do know and can't stand).

Corrie has lost it's charm....gone is our backstreet boozer to make way for the Bistro and now Speed Dahl....gone is the everyday normality to be replaced by Americanized programing..Blech.

Rest in peace old friend...Thank goodness for Youtube and endless hours of fantastic Corrie...RIP xoxoxox
