Coronation Street spoiler: New character Josh arrives

The previews are in for next week’s Coronation Street and handsome newcomer Josh arrives at the garage to apply for the mechanic’s job.

Josh gets the job at Webster’s autos and suggests a charity boxing match in memory of Luke.

In what may well turn out to be a completely unrelated storyline, Josh is the name of the man who will rape David Platt, it was revealed last month. It could be a different Josh, of course, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Of course it's the same Josh. Not looking forward to that storyline at all.

My dear sweet mother in Canada told me today that she actually switched off Corrie's Monday double episode because she was so fed up with the Phelan storyline and the violence and this Is a woman who has watched Corrie for the last 30 odd years. She has no plans to start watching it again unless some major changes come about, but unfortunately, after reading these previews that isn't going to happen anytime soon. As my mum put it there is already too much violence in the world today she doesn't need to see anymore on tv.

Not long ago I saw the actor who plays Josh in a stage play in Manchester called 'Gypsy Queens' in which he played a gay boxer. Were the Corrie writers influenced by seeing it too I wonder?

If it is the same Josh[and I think it is],then I don't want to see it either especially since he's working for Kevin.
As in the case when Tyrone was being beaten by Kirsty,Kevin won't believe David was raped by one of his mechanics or worse will think David got what he deserved for Anna's accident!
I am also disappointed that neither Tyrone or Kevin had the decency to wait until after Luke's funeral to hire his replacement.
They never seem that busy and spend more time on tea breaks or in the Rovers.

I've been watching Corrie since it started and certainly seen every episode over the past 30 years, but the implausibility of the recent plotlines, distortions of characters just to provide cliff-hanging stories as well as the regular doses of gratuitous violence is severely testing my loyalty. I may well change my viewing arrangements.
