TODD FACES THE MUSIC Todd summons everyone who bought a flat to a meeting, with Billy and Eileen promising to support him. Rita, Jenny, Sarah, David, Yasmeen, Anna, Gary, Kevin and Andy convene in the Rovers for Todd’s announcement but as Todd braces himself to break the bad news where is Phelan? Everyone’s shocked to realise they are £15K out of pocket. The pub’s in uproar as Anna accuses Phelan of fleecing them all, while Todd and Eileen insist they have been conned too. Sarah’s gutted she won’t have a home of her own and Anna’s knocked sick by the revelations.
DANIEL IS NOT ALL HE APPEARS TO BE Still suspicious of Daniel, Tracy pinches the keys to his flat and tells Peter she’s going round to see what she can find out. Meanwhile Adam’s horrified to find that his car has been stolen from outside No.1. When Tracy arrives home she informs Peter and Adam that she let herself into Daniel’s flat but what has she found?
CATHY ABANDONS HER NO FRILLS PHILOSOPHY Cathy’s flattered to hear from Rita that Roy doesn’t intend to skimp on ensuring they have the perfect wedding day but with Brian’s unease growing for his friend, can he bite his tongue?

Thanks Flaming Nora.
Something is bothering me about the scam storyline. Phelan knew where Vinny was going and that he had false ID so why not report him to the police for that? With terrorism being a problem, the authorities would take even an anonymous tip seriously and once they dragged Vinny back to GB, Phelan could blackmail him for the return of his share.
I understand that the amounts involved aren't the same but if Cathy couldn't afford the downpayment on Alex's flat, how is she paying for anything more than a no-frills wedding?
Phelan would be exposing himself to a police investigation under your scenario whereas with Vinny having absconded he can now paint himself as another of his victims
Vinny had taken an earlier flight to a different destination and had therefore left the country before he was rumbled by Phelan. Also, no mention has been made of whom is going to be paying for the wedding. It could be a joint payment by Roy and Cathy, so no need for a no frills wedding like you say
I don't think money is the issue for Roy, but I do feel he is uncomfortable with having a flashy wedding with a horse drawn carriage, pink cake and disco.
Why would David, Anna, Gary, Kevin and Andy be at the flat buyers meeting it has nothing whatsoever to do with them?
David is there for Sarah and the others must be there because they suspect Phelan of wrongdoing or they might just be there for a pint and hear about all this because Todd is holding the meeting in the Rovers.
I suppose Phelan can lie but only to a point. When Rita asked to see the site he pretended it was too messy to visit unless they had rain boots but I don't think anything at all was done. Phelan being a builder, how could he explain not knowing that though they'd had money for a while nothing was getting done?
Who has been cleaning the Rovers while Anna is off sick? I think we should be told. These are the sort of plot holes I hate and would never have happened when Bill Podmore was producer. Oates must go! I blame brexit.
There are gaping holes in the flats storyline. The buyers didn't need Phelan to show them round the site; they could have seen from across the road that nothing much was happening. Cllr Sally Metcalfe seems to have dropped out of the scene completely. Michael and Anna could have easily told her of their concerns and she could have got the planning officers to check out the site. People have been remarkably laid back about their investment. Did none of them use solicitors to check contracts etc? Of course not, Corrie residents don't bother with professional advice, do they? Eileen knows her own son. I'm guessing that, at some point, his mask will drop and Eileen will have to become part of the cover-up.
Humpty Dumpty, I agree with all your points. There are so many problems with this story that no matter how you try to account for it, people on Corrie would have to be more naive than children to get taken in. The site was supposed to be nearby, how could a whole neighborhood not notice there weren't even new construction workers buying lunch and discussing it or the other hundreds of clues: noise, mud, parking issues, that accompany the presence of a building site.
Of course, solicitors would have asked for money to be in a special account.
Even between the scammers, why would Phelan and Vinny trust each other to have a joint account from which one person could remove all the money without the other's approval? It's just as easy to require both signatures so why didn't they?
I agree with all who write about the gaping holes in this storyline. I know it's a soap and we expect our credulity to be stretched far and wide...however..it is not only the police who are portrayed in an idiotic way, it is also the residents. Honestly, they don't seem to have a brain cell between them - how can the actors stand such scripted blether. No one, I repeat no one would hand over 15K without a follow up. The best was 'I can't wait to have our/my own flat. Not going to look at progress, not having an authentic piece of paperwork. Stupid!
And while I'm here, I want to say that I am glad I don't live in Weatherfield, 'cos when you kick the bucket there hardly anyone grieves. Only Roy and he is known to be someone who doesn't show his feelings. Poor old Michael leaves for ice cream heaven in pursuit of the truth, and all that is done is a lot of sitting around saying 'what was he doing at the builders yard?'
That's true, Maria's dog got a more emotional goodbye. Then again maybe a bit too much stoicism is better than going crazy like David or having a huge quarrel the way Tracy and Ken did after Deirdre passed away.
I've always had a huge problem with the scam condo storyline -- utterly unbelievable... I'm glad it's drawing to a close.
