Now that the spoilers have hit the media about Paula Lane's exit and the death of Kylie Platt, the speculation begins. I'm kind of ticked-off that ITV decided to spoil this one. I really did think she'd end up having to go to jail but I suppose if the actress was not planning to return, they couldn't have her away for life. Her crime wasn't killing Callum, that was self defence, but the treatment of the body afterwards, that's the biggie.
Logically, you couldn't see Kylie leaving David and her kids again, not permanently and since we haven't been told that Jack P. Shepherd was leaving, it was also a given that it would be only her leaving the show. Death is probably the only possibility, then. But I still wish ITV had kept that as a surprise.
My imaginative guess: There have been rumours for months that Callum really isn't dead in spite of all the statements from ITV and the actor himself to the contrary. But maybe Callum really is alive. Maybe Callum lurches around a corner just as Kylie and David and family are loading up into the cab that's going to take them to their new start in Barbados, points a gun at her and kills her. I don't think we've seen that before, a supposed dead character return to kill someone. Returning from the dead has been done but not quite like this.
My absolutely stupid guess: Ok, just for fun, here's another one that's really stretching credibility. Nick has another psychotic episode and strangles Kylie. Since he has brain damage, no real motive is needed and he isn't responsible for his actions. He will only spend some time sectioned in a hospital in the room next to Sarah with Gail drifting woefully between the rooms of her two children.
What's your theory?

I too wish they'd kept this a secret - I couldn't believe it when the update came up!
I don't think Callum is still alive - police have already ID'd the body and his mom has buried him. I doubt Marion would have buried her son without seeing him one last time for closure's sake.
I'm thinking it's revenge from Callum's mates.
Gemma finds out that Kylie is leaving town and assumes that the police no longer believe Tony's the murderer. She therefore thinks that Kylie killed Callum because of the custody issues over Max and is escaping the police. Gemma knows that the gang didn't torch Jason's car and will think Kylie did it to further implicate Tony. So now Kylie has committed two sins: killing Callum and blaming the gang for something they didn't do. The gang either shoot Kylie or run her over but they are led by Gemma. So the 'new thing' is that a female character is killed by her female mate. We will also hear that Gemma always loved Callum and secretly hated Kylie for stealing him.
Personally I'm sick to death of the whole thing.
Phelan kills Kylie
Anonymous 15:11 - Exactly.
Bonnie in Canada
The Platts have s leaving party at the Rovers. David goes over first while Kylie gets ready. Kylie then tries to fix a faulty hair drier and electrocutes herself. Oh wait ...
I think it's going to be some sort of absolutely bizarre accident, kind of like when Paul's wife was electrocuted with the toaster. No one at fault, but certainly unexpected. Perhaps related to her getting things ready for them to leave?
She can't be hit with a car, that's how they did in Liam. Nor a tram accident, Alan Bradley did that. Hit in the head, suicide--both been done. No explosion, fire, drive into the canal...doesn't leave too many options.
Another thing that hasn't been discussed-they made such a big deal about things turning ugly with Caz. Maybe she has something to do with it?
Looking forward to the story. Glad to know.
I love the Kylie character and the connection with David.
I think each and every scene with Kylie will be all the more special knowing that she is going to die.
Also I think it is great for the actress....black cab exit not special enough.
Has there been a female killed by another female on the street before? All I can think of is Tracy, but that was killing a man.
I think she will have a heart attack or something completely sudden. I don't think anyone else will be involved.
Humpty for the win!
I agree with C from Canada. Didn't Gemma say as much, that Callum's death would be avenged?
I also just noticed that in the picture showing the hearse driving away, everyone standing looking at it have sad faces except Gemma, who seems to have a smug grin on her face.
Kylie will die from an undiagnosed HIV infection leading to full blown AIDS. A drug addict former stripper who does not use protection during one-noight-stands. You do the math. Never been done before on Corrie.
Maybe the fellow from Playschool has a heart attack whilst riding his motorbike and runs Kylie over
Kylie decides to leave Weatherfield in the night and calls a taxi from Streetcars. It sets off past the infamous canal, a drunken Gemma lurches out of the shadows causing the taxi to swerve and plunge into the water where Kylie dies.
One of the slates from Norris's dodgy new roof falls off and hits her in the head, killing her instantly. They were going for goodbye drinks in the Rovers
I like the HIV suggestion, not only because it's not been done before, but it also makes moe sense than many Street deaths. Death by Freddie's motorbike is also a possible, both sad and ironic, with Freddie being Kylie's friend.
heart attack (or something equally sudden), later found out to be caused by her past drug use. jeanie
Will Becky come to the funeral? I always liked Becky.
My theory is that Max causes her death accidentally. That's original I think! It has to be something very sudden obviously.
Everything I've read says it's something they've never done before, so it can't be a re-used plot.
So either Max causes an accident, it's medically related (heart attack) or even a drive by shooting by Callum's mates (I don't think that's been done before).
I think that the Gang members that have been harassing Gemma in the shop, come around again threatening her and she tells them to get lost, she has changed "just like Kylie"
Anger, they go after Kylie and she is killed.
It probably will have something to do with Macca and the other one, why else suddenly bring them back into it? But the question is how do they find out Kylie killed Callum unless she confesses, or lets it slip accidentally and they take her out.
It was bad enough when Gail took Nick's side when David found out his brother slept with Kylie so I don't think I could handle Gail taking his side again while David and his children mourn their wife and mother.
Perhaps Alex kills Kylie with Roy's car in an attempt to impress Gemma and Cathy sends him to Bali with his mother to 'protect'him from the law while Roy wants to turn him in?
Maybe Kylie takes drugs one last time to take the edge off her stress and she overdoses?
It was not "self-defence"; she was protecting Sarah, not herself.
