Leanne confides in Steph that she’s going to break the news to the father of her baby. Leanne hugs Simon and assures him she’ll love him just as much as her new baby. Meanwhile Yasmeen sets about drumming up guests for her rival party. With the party in full swing, Sally enjoys playing hostess. Ken, Norris and Freddie tuck into the canapés while Craig waits on. When Martin the Mayor arrives with his partner Terence, Sally’s put out to see they’ve brought their dog with them. In contrast, Yasmeen’s soiree is a scant affair with few guests and the thumping music from next door only highlighting the downbeat mood. As Sally lights the sparklers on her croquembouche, angry Yasmeen barges her way in demanding they turn their music down. To Sally’s horror, the mayor’s dog escapes through the open front door.

She  assures him that she doesn’t want any money and doesn’t expect him to play any part in their child’s life. He’s horrified to realise she intends to keep the baby. Leanne explains to the father how this could be her last chance to have a baby. Despondent he is forced to agree.
PEACE COMES TO THE STREET Sally’s party guests search in vain for the Mayor’s dog. Sally blames Yasmeen, pointing out that if she hadn’t barged her way in the dog wouldn’t be missing. Sally lambasts Yasmeen, telling her that if they don’t find the Mayor’s dog she’ll be a laughing stock at the Town Hall and it’ll be the end of her career. At her wit’s end, Sally opens up to Yasmeen and explains how she came from a rough background and has only ever wanted to better herself. Yasmeen softens towards her and suggests they’re two of a kind. Sally and Yasmeen return to No.4 firm friends. They’re taken aback to find Sharif, Tim, Martin, Terence and their dog watching a DVD.

I wondered wouldn't the loud music from Sally's party also disturb her other next door neighbors, the Platts? The family with two young children whose mother was just murdered?
I would've loved it if David or Gail demanded the music be turned down and make Sally realise what a self centered snob she is.

Is it just me, or is Sally not funny any more? Tim has taken over the humour for both of them, and does so extremely well.

When I saw the picture as a thumbnail, I hoped she had made a Ferrero Rocher pyramid!

Quite agree Louby, Sally is not funny at all just a really nasty self centred woman.

The 'whose the daddy' senario would have been quite good, if they hadn't already leaked the information beforehand.

I agree Ancient Corrier. I am very glad they didn't string it out any longer. It would have been like adding insult to injury after the big spoiler.

On another note, a great reconciliation scene between Yasmeen and Sally. I thought their respective parties (soirées!) were farcical but like where the silly storyline ended up.

Hold your breath Rapunzel... I think there's a twist coming, I still think Peter is the daddy !!!

Rapunzel said...

I would have liked that twist, Ancient Corrier, but Leanne said she hadn't slept with anyone else since Kal died.

It will make for a weird rivalry between Amy and Simon. They're step cousins due to Peter and Tracy being step-siblings. This new child will be a sibling for Simon, but not a blood one, as Leanne is his adoptive mother. But It will be a blood half-sibling to Amy, but this time not a cousin - step or otherwise.

No way - he's too laid back and lazy.

And he loves our Sal.

Felt like a completely useless scene watching Nick and Robert go into the Rovers when we all knew Leanne was going to see Steve. What was the point?

It was meant to fool us into thinking one of them was the daddy. There have also been hints that it could be Zeedan, a bit pervy considering he was almost her stepson. These scenes were filmed ages ago, before the producers decided to leak that Steve is the daddy, thus making the scenes, and various other red herrings, meaningless.
