Will Leanne keep mum about Steve's baby?
Here is a newly released picture from tonight's Coronation Street - Monday 25th July 2016.
Steve McDonald has been in some scrapes before but he really is facing the daddy of all problems this time. The hapless pub landlord found out on Friday (July 22nd) that Leanne is pregnant with his baby after a ill-judged one night stand earlier this month. And on Friday night Leanne finally came clean to Steve in the Rovers backyard.
In these scenes from Monday (25/07/16) night Steve dashes to the local hospital after Tim tells him Michelle has gone there. Worried that his wife is ill he is sent reeling when he finds her sitting with an anxious Leanne who has been experiencing stomach pains.
Has Leanne kept mum or has Steve arrived just in the nick of time?

I don't think Leanne would tell Michelle but Steve certainly should.
It'll come out sooner or later.
Borders on insanity this storyline does. Bunch of middle age nonsense. As if.
Most nearly 40s have great difficulty becoming pregnant. Months of trying are far more common than one hit wonders. Leanne was rightly lonely, but Steve and Michelle were split for all of a fortnight and professes to love Michelle, what's his excuse? Two older women within a month or two of each other without much effort stretches belief of both biology and common sense. If they were all in their carefree 20s, maybe, but 40ish, no.
I really dislike unbelievable stories.
I really hope this storyline isn't one of Kate Oates. Jane Danson will do her best just as Alison King did with some very stupid Carla storylines. A better scenario would have been a fling with both Nick and Robert which would be another 'who's the daddy?', but at least it's a bit more credible.
Not to mention Steve has been on anti-depressant medication for months. Realistically that medication could/would be affecting both his sex drive (which was already close to non-existent because of his condition) and probably his sperm count.
So it's not just the older women--let's be fair and say--maybe if the women had both had a fling with a healthy, young, virile guy--Jason, Zeedan, etc.!
Couldn't agree more that the story line is cringeworthy and painfully contrived--especially now that we will have Leanne and Michelle, who have never even exchanged the time of day, suddenly becoming best buds.
Of course, you can be sure that only one of the two pregnancies, if there are indeed two, will come successfully to term. I'm guessing Leanne's.
jeanie
Have to agree with all the above.
Steve having slept with Leanne is so unbelievable in itself, but for him to have made her pregnant.........oh come on, this really is amateur writing. I have to wonder about the level of intelligence of the writers, are they all silly teenagers?
Interesting.,.....not. LOL Steve with a wife and another woman pregnant by him. Been there done that.
I find it unbelievable. Leanne looked far too happy for it to have been Steve at the door. Also the man was taller. And - is it just me- or is it RED wine that shows that rumpeh pumpeh has taken place. They drank white! lol
I can't ever remember reading more negative comments about any Corrie story, then this Steve/Leanne pregnancy. All over forums, Facebook etc...people are complaining about it. I think the PTB really screwed up with this debacle. It's just so stupid.
It's a standard soap cliche. Sleep with the wrong person just once and you're going to get pregnant. Steve's swimmers have traditionally been strong ones. His two one-night-stands with Tracy who also has difficulty conceiving due to her one kidney, both resulted in pregnancies. (both were during a "break" from his current wife at the moment)
It was only odd that it should be Steve but they set it up by having them all of a sudden be friendly with supportive conversations in the week or so before. All these years they've known each other and have never really been friends, just neighbours, acquaintances and friendly in a neighbourly way. It's also the person of all the eligible ones that would cause the most fallout. Therefore it had to be Steve.
This shows a complete lack of imagination on the part of the writers. Honest to goodness, they would have us believe that every one-night stand ends in pregnancy. They would also have us believe that single people don't keep a few condoms in their bedside table. Hello??!!! As mentioned above, please tell us that this didn't happen on Kate Oates' watch.
What next! Since we're getting into the realms of fairytales, they may as well have Ken make Audrey pregnant.
I agree with all of the above! I am sick of this already and it's hardly started.
Btw, do we suppose that they have actually broken the one night stand/pregnancy tradition with Gemma and she isn't expecting Jason's baby?
Oh Lord - imagine Gemma as a mother!
It is unlikely but I'm not too fazed. I like the idea of Leanne having a baby and the actors involved shouldn't make it too painful.
As for it being up there with the worst storylines, could we please have a separate blog on that. There are way more excruciating candidates IMO
Jason during his tenure had the maximum number of one night stands and never got a single woman pregnant. So Gemma was not an exception.
Ah. But Jason (that I can remember, I may be wrong) never cheated on anyone or slept with the wrong person unless you count Stella Price and she was too old to get pregnant. I seem to recall he always went with available girls and he was the one cheated on now and again.
So Barren Karen should have cheated on Steve to get pregnant. Makes sense.
gemma will be рregnant next - Macca or chesney as the dad, what do you think Kate? (sorry, just a fly on the wall at the latest storyliners meeting featuring Kate and a bunch of 12 year olds :))
Erica getting pregnant was another insane, ridiculous and incredulous story! This one is just a tad less ridiculous.
Just watched Mon's episodes. Laughed hysterically at Steve blurting out the secret to his Mum. I think we should reserve judgement on this storyline. It could turn out to be pure Corrie gold.
Steven and Leanne never spent time together - what would he be doing commiserating at her flat at all, much less sleeping with her? LOL
Steve is pulling a Johnny Connor - but at least Johnny wasn't 100% certain that the little girl in the neighbourhood was his child.
At least Steve told Liz now and we don't have to endure weeks of agony waiting for the story to move. However I'd love this story-line to move away...very far away.
This storyline is just a grasp at, well...nothing. I'm so disappointed in this storyline, I don't even know what to say.
My first thought when it first comes out that Michelle wants a baby was perhaps it would be a situation where she was the one who couldn't have a child, so custody would be shared.
I sure hope the PTB read all of the negative feedback about this storyline. This crap writing needs to stop.
