After Sunita's funeral later this week, Dev decides to employ a nanny to look after little Asha and Aadi.
And if you thought Gloria last night called them Asda and Aldi on Coronation Street, she did. I wonder if the Corrie writers had been reading our blogger Graeme's posts where he'd named them Aldi and Netto a few times in different posts a while ago? Anyway, I digress.
Next week on Coronation Street, Dev will start looking for a suitable nanny for the kids. He interviews Mary and here's a preview picture of him with woman who looks like Claire Peacock who I can only assume has replied to his ad for a nanny and has turned up for interview too.
But who would make the best nanny for Dev's kids? I did think Sophie at first but he'd probably need Sophie to work in the shop as he needs someone he can trust working there. So what about Jenna? I think it could work.
Who do you think would be the best one for the job, and could put up with Dev?

Still can't stand Gloria, but I thought the "Asda and Aldi" line was one of the funniest to come out of anyone's mouth on Corrie in a long time. Props to you all at the blog if it arose as a result of something on here.
I think Tracy would be the best nanny. That would guarantee a ready supply of sociopaths on the street as the kids grow up under her influence, and she's one of the few that could run rings around Dev.
A simpler solution to the problem of nannying the kids is to take the whole family away altogether. No great loss. You know it makes sense.
Where are the Hindu family and friends Frosty asks? All the Asian people I know have a large tight circle but who is helping Dev and be chief mourner at the funeral - Stella of course! And what the HELL was she doing saying she would look after his children and then just disappearing after a phone call from Owen that could have waited or he could have called round to her. Looking after children is a serious responsibility DAH.
Frosty: there's a complete lack of character and plot development at the moment. The only reason Stella disappeared was to leave Karl in charge of the children so he could have a spat with Simon. It's sloppy writing. Stella could simply have been out of the room when Simon made his comment. Maybe it's a trivial point but these illogical bits are starting to grate and distract me from the action.
I wonder if we are in for a rerun of Ashley's relationship with Claire, who started off as a nanny after Maxine died.
It will probably be Sophie since the spoilers say that her and Dev get closer.
Still trying to figure out why Stella and Karl were babysitting BOTH Simon and the twins.
Also, why did Karl yell at Simon since he's said worse about Sunita even since she's been in the hospital. Projection? Karl saw himself in Simon that moment and didn't like what he saw?
Usually, Karl would have no interaction with Sunita's kids or at the funeral so it would be easier to live with what he did - he deserves this.

Digger, the Asda & Aldi names were pinched straight from Digital Spy's soap forum - we've been calling them that for ever.
I think the nanny choice is staring us in the face... Of course it has to be Karl!
He's unemployed and loves kids!
I think, Frosty, Stella's record of looking after children responsibly is well attested; just ask Leanne ;)
Isn't Dev's daughter's name Asha, not Aaha...or did something go completely over my head lol?
Sorry ChiaGwen, my typo! :-) All corrected now.
Question from one of your Yanks:
RE: Boria's "Asda & Aldi" line. Are these names significant in the UK (like a company of some sort?) or is it that she just got the names wrong that you all think it was so funny? I googled the names and came up with nothing.
Asda and Aldi are the names of supermarkets here in the UK.
Ah, get it now. That one just flew over our Yank heads. Thanks Flaming Nora!
Sophie will take care of the kiddies, fall in love with Dev and live happily ever after; formally crowned Princess Sophie.
(Yes I know she's gay but if they can "transform" Marcus why not Sophie)
I'm sure Stella will fit taking care of the woman who stole her man's children right into her busy schedule.
What??

Mary was good at keeping Faye in line but Eileen has my vote; either of their caustic tongues would actually be great for bringing some humour back to the Street! Those kids are brats, Dev is a mellow dramatic ninny, and they are all in dire need of someone to whip them back into shape!
Gloria, Mary, St Ella, Tracy, blech, giving any of them extra screen time would make my stomach turn. And Dev isn't a complete idiot; he knows what a bunch of nutters they are, with the possible exception of Our Lady of the Beige. Jenna or Ken would be my choices of available nannies; decent, educated, responsible adults with a bit of time on their hands. So it won't happen.
What about the friends they keep having sleep overs round, or the magic invisible nanny who takes care of children when they never appear?
