Top 5 best fights on Coronation Street

We can't have been the only Coronation Street fans who cheered this week when Carla Connor slapped Tracy Barlow across the chops.  It was a good slap, a really good slap, and ranks up there in the top five best slaps I've seen on the show.

And it's started me thinking about other slaps and fights we've seen on the show. I know we shouldn't enjoy violence, but you know, it's soap so it's OK. Isn't it?

Anyway here's my favourite five:

1. Sally slaps Natalie Horrocks when she found out about her affair with Kevin Webster.

Watch it on Youtube here.

2. Ken Barlow hits Mike Baldwin in the factory when he finds out about his affair with Deirdre. This was so bad it's become a classic. Ken's fist nowhere near connects with any part of Mike's body.

Watch it on Youtube here.

3. Gail and Eileen fight in their dressing gowns. Gail knocks on Eileen's door, determined to have it out with Todd who's done the dirty on her Sarah.  This is probably my favourite Corrie fight, not just because of the two women airing their dirty laundry in public but for Gail's comment: "Oh, here's the other one. The rest of The Village People!"

Watch it on Youtube here.

4. Deirdre gets pied by Gail after Deirdre was caught kissing Audrey's fella, Lewis Archer.

Watch it on YouTube here.

5. Ena Sharples fights with Elsie Tanner. The fight spilled out into the Street and Ena ended up smashing one of No.11's windows with her handbag.

Watch it on YouTube here.

Are there any more you would have included?

Some great choices there! More recently, the Gary vs Phelan fight which ended in Phelan getting whacked by the plank was pretty memorable, especially when he disappeared afterwards.

Best slap I've seen in a soap and very satisfying to watch. In fact I may have to watch Carla slapping Tracy on a loop instead of the rest of that storyline.

I did like Stella dragging Sunita down the street by her hair. Not really a soap fight but a memorable moment for sure.

I would also like to add Karen vs Tracy on Karen's wedding day to Steve.
Also the battles Becky had with Tracy ending with Becky getting the upper hand by revealing on Tracy's wedding day to Steve that Tracy lied about Becky pushing her down the stairs causing her to miscarriage Steve's twins. A lie that Deirdre the 'lynchpin of the community' knew but kept quiet.

I thought the fight between Sarah and Callum was really life-like - maybe the only "straight" acting Callum did on the show! Oddly, I am not a fan of either character, but I have to hand it to them for that struggle (which ended in Callum's apparent demise).

I cheered all those years ago when Shelley punched Peter after finding out about Lucy. I don't know if it was especially realistic, but was totally deserved!

do we count рouring beer over рeoрle as a fight? There's been hundreds of those - so funny, not! Although the best fight was Becky launching herself over the Rover's bar at someone, I forget who :)

That's reminded me of a scene when Steve was just arriving back at the Rovers after a holiday or something. A fight had just broken out inside (I can't remember who), and just as he got out of the taxi, someone came crashing out of the pub, like a scene from the wild west!

Becky jumped over the counter at Jason. He had led her on - they even got a flat together - but he got back with Sarah.
