Tristan Gemmill, who plays Robert Preston in Coronation Street, was interviewed on This Morning this week.
Speaking about Robert's current storyline where things aren't looking great for Robert and Michelle, Tristan said that it's a question of trust for Michelle as to whether she and Robert will stay the distance as a couple. "Trust is the reason that she and Steve split up," he says.
He says that Coronation Street "is unlike any other show" in terms of how quickly it works. He also says that the producer is pushing for Robert's character to be more dark and to explore that side of the character too.
Watching the video on the ITV This Morning website, it's clear that actor Tristan is a million miles away from ropey Robert. He's so well spoken and more reserved than you'd imagine. Have a look at it here.

Is it possible that Tristan is trying so hard to hold on to a Corrie accent that he has nothing left to give to the character? OK, he's an actor but not all actors find accents easy.
Her own stupidity is the reason Michelle and Steve split up.
Robert to get darker? Is that possible?
I never warmed up to Robert, I'm not a big fan.
