State of the Street November 2016

November on The Street was pretty good overall, barring the debacle that was "Maria kills Caz". Thank heavens that's over though Maria's still got a legal sword hanging over her. Enough has been written about that on the blog so I won't touch more on it (other than in the detailed blog on State of the Street)

The arrival of Adam and Daniel has given the Barlow family a new and rather exciting dynamic boost. Both Daniel and Adam are keeping secrets as is Peter, it certainly seems. Peter seems to be taking a role in the family as peacekeeper and head of the family in waiting but Peter Barlow is a screw up and we know there will be more reasons for Ken to sigh "Peter!!!!" Can't wait to find out what that's going to be.

Mary and Erica have forged quite a nice friendship and Erica was supportive of Mary during a health crisis. Why hasn't Mary been more supportive of Erica in the wake of two manipulative children?

Rana and Zeedan are married after only  a few weeks being engaged and certainly don't seem all loved up in the afterglow. I'm surprised she's nicking birth control pills when I assumed she was already on them. Even if she wasn't before the engagement and wedding date set, you'd think she'd have started on them straight away. They don't take effect overnight and in fact take a couple of months to be a confident method of birth control.

Phelan and Vinny's scam broke wide open when Michael figured it all out but ended up dead. Vinny double crossed Phelan and headed for the hula dancers of Hawaii leaving Todd and Phelan to pick up the pieces and Gail burying yet another husband.

There's more detail here on State of the Street.

We might see Zeedan become very traditional in his views and I understand contraception and morning after pills aren't allowed in Muslim marriages. Something else the newly weds haven't discussed - not just about starting a family but how they will limit the number of children. Another thought occurs to me that maybe the couple weren't able to consummate the marriage at that time of the month. People do, of course, but maybe not if their religion looks unfavourably on it. That would have given Rana some leeway.

This is not the first time there has been an elaborate discussion of birth control for a fictional character on a soap opera. TMI - if they aren't going there on screen, why are we going there online?

Assuming Anonymous at 18.37 is referring to my comment, two reasons. One is that it could be a good insight into religious orthodoxy/liberalism in families. Two is that my imagined storylines are often much more fascinating than those on-screen...

You bring up some interesting points. Rushing into this marriage means a lot will have to be discussed after the ceremony when it should have been figured out before. Let's hope there are no dealbreakers.

Humpty Dumpty you got that one right - I always look forward to reading your comments and your fascinating imagined storylines. Please keep them coming even if I despair with the results of your insights it's only because chances are you are correct and I don't fancy the unavoidable outcome. As they say: Bring It On!!!!

Humpty Dumpty I was thinking the other day about a viewer that had insightful comments about Corrie but he used the name Frosty Snowman, was that you? or does anybody know what happened to him? I was just curious.

I was also thinking about frosty the snowman the other day - he was great! And where's fat brenda btw?

Ah! Frosty the snowman, miss his Sunday awards, he always made me smile.

Frosty the Snowman was brilliant and it was his insightful and entertaining comments, along with Mersey Tart's(as he was then) that encouraged me to post my own comments.
