CATHY PUTS ALEX IN HARM’S WAY As they work side by side in the café, Cathy’s snappy with Alex, dwelling on her suspicions about his paternity. When Nigel ignores her messages, furious Cathy leaves Alex in charge of the café and storms out. Roy finds the café in chaos with Alex yelping in agony, having scalded his arm, and takes him to A&E. At Nigel’s house, Cathy bangs on the window, demanding the truth about Alex. As Cathy sits outside his house refusing to budge, Nigel caves and invites her inside. Cathy asks Nigel outright if Alex is his son. Will she get the answer she fears?
ALYA PUTS SHARIF ON THE SPOT Alya tells Sonia she’s outstayed her welcome at No.6. Sonia’s shocked by her bluntness. When Sonia reveals Alya seems to be onto them, Sharif decides it’s time she moved out. Sensing his panic, devious Sonia suggests he buys one of Phelan’s flats for her. Sharif confronts Alya about her outburst. Alya’s unrepentant, telling her granddad that Sonia clearly fancies him. Sharif’s unnerved by how near she is to the truth and agrees to convince Yasmeen that buying a flat is a sound investment for them and Sonia can rent somewhere else while it’s being built.
AIDAN HAS DESIGNS ON EXPANDING Alya and Sinead excitedly outline their bespoke design ideas. Aidan’s impressed but sceptical Johnny demands facts and figures before the venture can proceed.
ELSEWHERE Due to Mary’s new job at the florist’s, Erica takes charge of Aadi and Asha for the day. They’re quick to realise she’s no pushover and the twins vow to get Mary back. Freddie’s disappointed when Audrey turns down his invitation to lunch. Maria advises him not to give up.

CATHY STRUGGLES TO COME TO TERMS WITH THE TRUTH With the truth about Alex’s paternity now out in the open Cathy’s in shock as Nigel explains how he found out he isn’t Alex’s father. He apologises to Cathy for keeping her in the dark. Back at the cafe Roy returns with Alex, and baffled by Cathy’s foul mood, demands to know why she walked out. As Cathy explains all to Roy his calm approach doesn’t help and she blasts Roy for his lack of understanding. As she storms upstairs, Roy feels like a stranger in his own home and glances sadly at a photo of Hayley.
ALYA PUTS TWO AND TWO TOGETHER Yasmeen and Sharif inform Alya of their plan to invest in a flat and rent it to Sonia. Alya sneers at Sonia’s manipulation and Yasmeen’s confused by her rudeness. When Alya refuses to drop her suspicions, Sharif lies and claims he slept with Sonia once, years ago. A stunned Alya works out that Sharif’s buying Sonia’s silence by setting her up in a flat. Sharif admits it but insists he loves Yasmeen and begs Alya not to betray his secret. Will she agree to keep quiet?
AIDAN BASKS IN ALYA’S REFLECTED GLORY Johnny thinks there’s no market for Alya’s vintage designs. Aidan disagrees and goes to a meet a client to drum up interest. Johnny heads off on holiday with Jenny. Revealing their designs impressed the client, Aidan offers Alya and Sinead a £60 bonus each. Sinead’s pleased but Alya furiously accuses Aidan of ripping her off.
ELSEWHERE Maria conspires with Tyrone to persuade Freddie to have one last try at changing Audrey’s mind. At their suggestion, Freddie calls at the salon on his motorbike. Declaring he’s made a mistake, Freddie asks Audrey to join him for a romantic country pub lunch. As Erica’s patience with Aadi and Asha wears thin, Dev confronts Mary with a copy of her contract, pointing out she’s breaking its terms by leaving Erica to cover her duties.

Oh my, Cathy Cathy Cathy! You are fast becoming one of my least liked characters. Selfish woman. It's all "Poor me!" with you. Roy deserves better.
And isn't Alya turning into a nasty bit of work! When did that happen? Time was, she wouldn't say boo to a goose!
She hasn't said Boo to anyone for the last six months. And therein lies the problem. How curious that when the Nazirs first arrived, the general opinion was that people didn't care for any of them except Alya, who was deemed to have great potential. And look where we are now. Yasmine (originally labelled a shrieking harridan - though personally I always liked her) goes from strength to strength as an intelligent, compassionate, opinionated matriarch, Zeedan (the silent, sulking presence with no friends) is a complicated, principled but tremendously loyal young man, while Alya is an utter dead weight. I have to agree that this must be her exit story, along with Sharif.
I have asked this previously, but where are people getting the info from that Sharif and Alya are leaving? Have I missed something, or are they just presumptions?
I think Alya should become the new owner of Underworld. The entire Connor clan has become so boring and pointless, espeically Aidan. Alya should purchase the factory, design her vintage clothing and produce them. She should also produce a line of exercise wear that could be sold in her grandfather's gym. And why is Counselor Sally still sewing underwear? How can she possibly live down the embarassment that such an important member of Council is still stitiching knickers? No way... just wouldn't happen even in the land of make believe/soap opera. This show has been sailing the way of the "good ship lollipop" for so long... I kept hoping the course will be straightened but it's hard and I'm skipping multiple episodes...
So utterly disappointed in Canada...
Well I have to agree with the comments above except I love Yasmeen & Sharif together - before it was a love based on mutual respect, love and understanding. Now it has become a shamble. Why doesn't Alya start her own boutique underworld - it doesn't have to be on the street since she never seems to be there anyway.
Cathy & Alex can go and live with Nessa and leave Roy being happy in his café with the rest of his friends on the street. Don't forget Brian Packham is coming back so that would work out great.
I don't think bringing in new actors/characters will change much except the names and the faces. Probably more scandals to come.
Something has to happen soon or this soap will be forever doomed.
I'm amazed Dev gave Mary a contract, he just seems to take her for granted, but I'm also surprised she would choose to work for Tracy when she's supposed to be looking after the twins.
Can anyone explain this money thing that indicated to Cathy that something was amiss, or, as I suspect, it was a hastily thrown together storyline with no actual logic whatsoever?
I'm starting to consider all the useful things I could do with 2 1/2 hours each week if I gave up watching and just read this blog instead. It would be a hard habit to break though.
Yeah, easy. Cathy said Newhaven was where her hubby used to go on business trips and he'd meet up with Nessa.and obviously where Alex was conceived. So it's named after the "scene of crime", so to speak
Okay thanks, who is paying the money to Alex though?
I think the monthly amount for Alex comes from a trust fund that Alan had set up prior to his passing. At one point Nessa's husband tells Cathy that the trust fund money should have been for her not Alex.
Either way the whole plotline was hastily created and just thrown in to create tension between Roy & Cathy. I'm really hoping that they don't continue with the pretense that they will finally get married.
That would be a disaster.
Cathy is now becoming cringy she's written so badly. Talk about such a bad fit for one the best characters in all the history of the Street. How could the get this so wrong? And Alex with her.
I like Alex and used to like Cathy but omg she has been HORRIBLE of late to poor Roy. He needs to kick her to the curb. After all that whining about the money for Alex' condo, having to share the BIG bedroom with Roy and the 'where do I fit into all this'? Missing Roy's birthday and not giving a flip. It broke my heart to see Roy looking at Hayley's photo. I would tell her to sell her house and buy a condo for her and Alex oh but then she'd be back when her savings are wiped out for Roy to look after them. BAH! I completely agree, Roy deserves better.
So true about Sally. Why would she still be at the factory especially after getting demoted back to sewing. Also knowing how businesses operate, even if Sally stayed, they'd have given her the receptionist/ assistant job back to stay on Council's good side, just in case...
Well the school year has started up again. There can't be much to do for the twins except in the evenings and weekends when the flower shop would be closed anyways. Todd had plenty of time to loaf about so Tracy's not wearing anyone out.
