Georgia Taylor returns to Coronation Street as Toyah Battersby
Georgia Taylor is returning to Coronation Street as Toyah Battersby, ITV have confirmed.
Toyah was last seen on the cobbles 13 years ago in February 2003. She left Weatherfield after finding out her college lecturer boyfriend had got her friend Maria pregnant. She has been mentioned regularly in scripts by Leanne who has visited her sister a few times.
Coronation Street Producer Kate Oates said:
“I am delighted that Georgia Taylor has agreed to return to the role of Toyah. She is a talented actress who has had great success since leaving the show in 2003.
“Family relationships are the lifeblood of soap operas and I am excited to explore the drama that Toyah will bring with her to the cobbles. She has led an interesting life away from Weatherfield and she has secrets she has kept even from Leanne.
“Her arrival this Christmas looks set to put the cat amongst the Coronation Street pigeons.”

“I am thrilled to be re-joining my old friends on the cobbles and hugely excited to be given the opportunity to explore the character of Toyah 13 years on.
“Coronation Street has always had a place in my heart and I'm delighted to be working again with my good friend Jane Danson and bringing the Battersby sisters back together.
“The script writers and producers have come up with some fantastic, clever, and detailed story-lines that have inspired me and I feel excited to get started!”

Yay, great news. I loved it when Toyah and Leanne were in Corrie together. Great rapport between them, very credible that they could be sisters
Delighted to hear this. I wonder how she'll get along with Eva?
Oh brilliant news! Is it going to be permanent or is she only back short-term? I imagine Georgia is never short of work!
So frickin' excited!
Love her in Law and Order UK (watched on BBC Canada). Does this mean she is no longer in that series (we are not up-to-date over here).
Easy, I don't think are producing any more Law and Order UK. Season 8 is the last one.
Easby - yes. She did two series of Law & Order UK, finishing in 2014.
Great that she's back in Corrie!
Oh god, no...
They said they were going to 'rest' the series after Bradley Walsh decided to quit. He had been the constant for eight seasons. What I wonder is, now that his brother, Adam Baldwin, is returning to the show, does this open the door a crack for his return as Danny Baldwin?
BEST. NEWS. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesss! Thank you Corrie!!
She was a decent enough character, but hardly an iconic( as is the buzzword these days!) one. Slightly bemused by all the excitement over her return!
They cast her well as she does look as though she could be Janice's daughter; I think it's the round face.
What I wonder is, now that his brother, Adam Baldwin, is returning to the show, does this open the door a crack for his return as Danny Baldwin?
I would LOVE to see Danny back, even if it were just a short visit!
I was thinking, for someone considered one of the "nice" characters, Maria sure does have a habit of cheating on her partners/sleeping with the wrong men/taken men. Might be a blog post in that, Maria's dubious choices?
