Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, was interviewed on ITV's Lorraine show this morning.
Brooke is currently on a 10 week break from Corrie as she stars in a 1960s stage show with Ruth Madoc from Hi-De-Hi. The show's called Be My Baby and you can read all about it here.
Anyway, in the interview today with Lorraine, Brooke was there to help publicise the play - and says she misses being at Corrie too. This is understandable as she's been on the show for more than half her young life! Lorraine played a montage of some of Sophie's best bits and Brooke got a little teary eyed watching them all. She also said she'd love for Helen Flanagan to come back to Corrie as Rosie Webster.
Rehearsals have started for Be My Baby and Brooke says it's very different to her work on Coronation Street. This will be her stage debut and we wish her all the very best with it!
Our blogger Ruth will be seeing the show at the Lowry in Manchester in
October and will be reviewing it here for the Coronation Street Blog.

I hope Brooke does well in her career. The character, Sophie, is now grown up and doesn't have a meaningful place on the Street. She's not a useful supporting character like Kirk or Norris. She could be, if the writers chose to put her in regular scenes with her mother. They could be another Blanche and Deirdre. Sophie's major stories mainly focus on her love life. OK, that's true of Eva, too, but we also see Eva with her sister, colleagues, neighbours. Sophie darts in and out of her parents' lives but it's not enough. The writers need to sharpen up Sophie's storylines or write her out. Good luck to Brooke and no reflection on her abilities.
On more interesting news, Brian is returning in November!
Quite pleased to find the show premiers at the theatre ten minutes from where I live, Theatr Clwyd. I might have to get a ticket!
