The first baby born in the front of the pub was when Violet gave birth to Sean Tully's baby.
We've recently seen Kirsty and Tyrone's baby Ruby born in the back room of the pub too (thanks to our commenter Tracey for the update!).
The Star says that when Tina has the baby in the pub, gossip will spread that Tina and Gary have had an affair and that the baby's really Gary and Tina's, not Gary and Izzy's with Tina as surrogate mum.

Wasn't Ruby, Tyrone's baby, born in the Rovers?
Aw C'mon! I realize it's much more entertaining to have a baby delivered in unusual circumstances than in a hospital, or even at home with a mid-wife, but this pattern of first-born children popping out in the pub is just silly. It's statistically much more likely that a first baby will take more than a day to arrive than this nonsense. They're only a few minutes away from the magic Weathy Hospital!
Didn't Trisha Armstrong give birth in the Rovers?
So the new producer is just following in Collinson's foot steps more implausible drivel instead of trying to get back to the balance of comedy and drama that was the Street.
What does the executive producer do can't he get Blackburn going in the right direction and if he can't then boot him out and get someone in who understands the Street and its traditions.
*sigh* I think they'll have to build a maternity room in the new pub, maybe where the snug used to be. It'll get a lot of use.
Yes, Ruby was born in the back room as was Tricia Armstrong's baby Brad, the first baby born in the Rovers.
It's utterly ridiculous for all these first babies to be born away from the hospital. And why does each Corrie birth have to be such a big drama? First births can easily take up to 2 days from first contraction to birth. It's not one pain and 10 minutes later you're holding a baby.
I know we watch for the drama, but these pub births are so unrealistic that they're laughable.
Sigh, more of the St Ella doing her sack cloth and ashes routine. On the plus side we see Dr Carter. Perhaps he and Tina will rekindle and run off together to make very perfect looking babies.
How unoriginal can they be. With all the trips to Weathy General, the maternity wing is sadly unused. I expect it will be another soap birth, over in minutes with a bit of huffing and puffing and not a drop of blood in sight. No doubt Midwife St Ella will be overseeing things along with Dr Carter who will of course just be having a pint in there!
I have an idea - maybe Tina could actually have the baby in a hospital.
Recently saw and enjoyed the old episode where Dierdre gives birth to Tracy in the hospital, following a long labour. The setup allows for a related drama to unfold with the young mother-to-be with whom Dierdre's sharing the room. Would be quaint if tptb returned to a scenario like this--
The only reason for this storyline is that Stella can hold her hand during the birth. Luckily, Dr Carter and Marcus will just happen to be in the vicinity.
Violet was the first person to give birth in the Rovers on-screen. However, Elsie Tanner gave birth to her first daughter Linda in Annie Walker's living room in 1940. So in the backstory of the show, Linda was the first baby to be born in the pub.
Humpty, I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that both Marcus and Dr. Carter will be unavailable, and St Ella will have to deliver the baby, with Boria barking commands and her usual ignorance in the background. Then either Marcus or the doctor will arrive in time to arrange for an ambulance.
Then, because Her Beigeness delivered the baby, we'll all change our minds about her and become true believers of St Ella, and sing her praises on our blogs. As if.
Let's get serious now. The baby is Tommy' and he and Gary are going to set up house to raise it. Sean will successfully take custody of his boy Dylan and they'll embark on their own DVD titled My Three Dads.
Chatty Kathy, your scenario sounds depressingly likely. When will they admit that the character of St Ella the Beige is completely moribund? It's like watching the living dead. They keep shoving her into everything, either as the wronged heroine or a mother confessor. It's not going to make viewers like her more, and it's ruining the show.
Anonymous 18:05, I really enjoyed your comment reminding us of a past episode with Dierdre giving birth in a normal hospital setting. Can you tell me the date of that episode so I can look it up on youtube? It was also nice to have someone on this thread talk about something else for a change, instead of harping all the time about St Ella the Beige. Now that she's been MIA for 2 episodes, could we please talk about sommat else?
Anon 00:27, this blog topic is about a birth that will allegedly take place in Rovers. Since St Ella is the owner and manager of said establishment, it's not out of the question that her name will pop up in this thread.

I think that whenever a woman becomes pregnant on Corrie, Dr. Carter or Marcus should tell her to immediately reserve a back booth at Rovers from her 7th month forward, and to get there as soon as she feels her first contraction or any other symptom of labor starting. We wouldn't want to take any chances and risk not having a pub delivery.
There's one glimmer of hope - if t'babby is born actually IN the Rovers then perhaps St Ella isn't involved in anyway because Tina hasn't been invited through t'back? I can't imagine St Ella wanting to get her nice beige frock mucky either.
Anon 00:27. Sorry, don't remember the date of that episode. Was flipping through random clips :/ Maybe someone else knows? You can see the tail end on Deirdre - The Coronation Street Collection, part 3. Cheers--
